week 2
[The second week in the Champion Excellence Program kicks off on a somber note. Chitanda, Toby, the Griffin- all three of them gone, two of them in one fell swoop. If anyone thinks to check the profiles on their P.I.P.s they will find that the dearly departed Champions' profile photos have been greyed out.
Right on the dot at 7 am the mechanical woman's voice chimes to awaken the remaining champions on Sunday morning, as she has for the past week. After the initial wake-up call though there's a new message tacked on:]
Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your first trial, you have unlocked the second floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the second floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.
[The new floor isn't the only thing floating around the ship though, at least metaphorically. When the Champions are awakened they have regained one new memory from the ones they've lost. Starting again on Sunday, as well, Jamie and Bolton will be back to their usual office hours in their usual locations.]
[ooc: welcome to week 2, everyone! Check-in has begun and don't forget to submit your memory regains!]
MONDAY

Later in the day, he'll return to the library and pour over books there once more. He only breaks for lunch and dinner by eating in the diner. Lunch is a delicious burger and fries with a chocolate milkshake and some cherry pie. For dinner, he has a BLT with fries and another chocolate milkshake and this time, chocolate pie. ]

Since the Griffin and Chitanda's portraits are right next to each other, it's easiest to see the stretching and the slashes side-by-side, mouth open in horror.]

I guess it'll be up to me to deface yours once your death comes.

Meeting time!
Meeting after Lunch. Please bring your own refreshments.
-Xander
[It's certainly shorter and to the point then last time- though that might be because he had to stare down the paintings in order to post it. Or maybe some left over foul mood from yesterday. Either way, he's with his whiteboard just like the week before
...he seems to have been waiting a bit cuz there's a small doodle on the corner of the board along side his talking points (dreams, sleeping outside the dorms, the trial) that looks like a black cat with abnormally long upright ears, like a rabbit's, with the tips of the tail and ears left white]
If that's everyone, I'm assuming you've all had the dreams?
no subject
It seems to be a definite trend among us - upon waking up on Sunday, we all had some sort of real, detailed dream that falls more in line with real-life logic than it does a dream. As outlandish as it may seem, I believe that these dreams might not be dreams at all - they are our memories. [A pause, as she lets that settle in.] There is a trend of our current memories having holes already, isn't there? From the profile inconsistencies to what the Overseers know about us...there are certainly things that have happened to us that we simply can't access at the moment.

I've noticed... each seems to end with my falling asleep. [ Or getting knocked unconscious by a horse. ] 'Twas the last thing I remembered when I woke hither, and yestermorn was the same. Is't the same for any person else?
[ And then, close to the end of the meeting, she has something even tougher to ask of them. ]
While we are still here, [ oh god oh man ] I would ask...
[ She decides to just spit it out. ]
I want to learn to read.

Not a dream. A memory. [Light's hand moves up to her chest.] I know it's a memory. I could use magic in the memory, and when I went to the gym yesterday, I confirmed it. [Poor basketball.] I also remembered names and faces of my friends... the only thing that doesn't make sense is that there's something missing that should have come along with those memories. Something I came here without.

[ At least he seems to not be completely dead inside as he was before. ]

I had a...remembrance, as well. But that seems to be a consensus among us.
More pressingly, I wanted to ask if any of you would be on board with some sort of funeral service for Chitanda and the others. [ Although she only names Chitanda, her tone is surprisingly neutral. As much as she hated what Toby did, he still deserved his rites. ] Misumaru, you mentioned it to Xander, right?
I know a bit about human last rites from my duties, but if anyone could share theirs, I'd be grateful.
