Week 5
[In a tragic yet seemingly inevitable turn of fate, the Champions have lost Zombina this week.
Again, the Champions will find themselves experiencing strange dreams on Sunday night, until they're awakened by C.E.C.E.'s announcement. This is all starting to become routine.]
Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your third trial, you have unlocked the fourth floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.!
[The trash compactor is completely shiny and new again. In addition, the profiles on the P.I.P.s still inticate that Karamatsu is dead. Because of course he is, right?
Fuck you.]
(( Welcome to Week 5! Don't forget to check in and submit your memory regains! Turn in your benefactor threads for sweet loot, too! ))

SUNDAY

He doesn't want to get up. But as ever, he makes himself. He hadn't checked the rooms the day before. Wasn't up for it. He's letting this place get to him, eat away at his ever defense.
When he finds the letters, he takes them to the cafeteria and leaves them on a table for everyone to sort through. And makes himself a very, very strong cup of coffee. Before disappearing for a little while.
When he reappears, he looks gaudier than ever. Joining his locket around his neck are dogtags, as well as that stupid plastic pyramid. At least he's got his coat back on. And a spiky bracelet around one wrist that...well at least it goes, honestly.
The new floor gets examined, as always, and he finds the infirmary to be like an offensive joke. He digs through the medicine, and the bags of blood, wonders if this would have been enough for Zombina and laughs bitterly to himself. Nothing else truly grabs his attention (some of these boozehounds are probably going to die from the bar) except the gym, where he'll actually take the time to do some working out in there instead of taking up cafeteria space.
In the holodeck, it's not a duel this time. There seem to be several little scenes going on, various constructs of memory. Ancient Egypt. A man that looks nearly identical to him holding the body of a pale woman. A knight riding a three-headed dragon. Anyone who's seen him in the holodeck before might recognize 'Yuugi', but decked in gold and much tanner, more regal than ever before. Several items not unlike the Puzzle or the Rod set into what looks like a stone sarcophagus. He's quiet and contemplative.
And if anyone goes to hang out in the greenhouse as of late, they might see Ibris the robot lizard clinging to a plant, blue ribbon still wrapped around it. Kaiba does not seem to be anywhere in sight.]

All day Sunday Karamatsu stays in Akira's room. He doesn't leave save to take a trip to the bathroom, and he's not present during any meal times. He doesn't get up to close the door whenever Akira comes in or out, though, so more likely than not it'll remain cracked. He's been sleeping fitfully with that cat plush of Akira's in his arms, his head pillowed by two things: his blue hoodie from home, and a red one. It's more well put together than the one he's still wearing from the trial. The memory he gets doesn't help him much, either...not when it ends with them all dying in space anyway.
So maybe that's how everything really does end.
Either way, Karamatsu won't be leaving unless otherwise convinced to.]

First thing in the morning he hits the coffee bar in the cafeteria with a new bag of coffee from home- it smells lovely, better then the bagged stuff they usually get here that's for sure. There's enough for a few people to get some too, but Akira drinks alone, looking like the coffee is both the best thing he's ever had and about to make him cry. A happy cry, but a cry none the less.
Shortly after he gives the new floor a look, stopping by the bar to grab the most expensive liquor he can find and take it down stairs. He can be found at the mural, pouring a shot for himself, tapping the wall before drinking it. He leaves the bottle there for the dead- one is more then enough for him.
Other then checking on Karamatsu and walking the rounds though, he spends the rest of the day at the gym, doing stretches and sit ups, or jogging.]

He'll be around on the fourth floor, poking around the new areas. The infirmary gets his particular attention, and you can find him gathering up basic first-aid materials to bring back downstairs with him.
Later, there's a sign up outside the art room door - PAINTING CLASS/PARTY. Max is in there with a few extra easels and palettes set up; not quite enough for everyone, but he doesn't really expect everyone to show and definitely not all at once.]

but he wakes up Sunday, and it's like every Sunday morning. Not just the announcement, but what he saw in the night. He's known since the moment he heard Anna's body was found that his days were numbered, and what he saw, what he's done means it has to be the last one. Agent York's tied up in the last place anyone will look for them, the clock tower's basement, and he's telling him just enough to make him think that he's responsible for all of this.
Even as he lies, he lets himself crack through, telling him what he needs to know the most: if I had someone like you, things may not have come to this. As he leaves the room to climb the stairs to the top he leaves himself behind for the last time. He's Carol again, even dressed like her this time, and he needs to be her to do what he's about to.
It's not even noon and his stomach is empty, but when he investigates the new floor he spends most of his time in the bar. This is a safe place for him, honestly safer even than the kitchen, somewhere he can be really himself. He's pouring out unrecognizable bottles and covertly sorting most of them- but it's still pretty early for this kind of thing, and he recognizes it's a terrible idea later in the day.
By that time, he's snatched up the letters someone left for him in the cafeteria, going through the dead's words as he tries to fix the problem he set up for himself with diner coffee. He's writing on the back of one, not caring if someone else notices.]

[Once she's confirmed everyone's generally not dead, she can be found in the Media Room, curled up in a chair, quietly watching Dawn of the Dead.]
[Later in the day, she's made her way to the Holodeck, wearing the green formal dress she recovered from Max last week. She's remembered now why it's sized for her, and apparently she's using the opportunity to relive the moment. The deck has been transformed into what looks like a huge, formal high-school dance. Penny's generally off to one side watching the holographic party, looking a little sad but occasionally quietly dancing in place to the music. Or maybe you'll spot the OTHER Penny somewhere in the crowd, flanked by a pair of armored, armed guards; this is a carefully reconstructed memory, apparently. And then- something sure is happening.]

MONDAY
a wild top level has appeared!
[ in the early hours of morning, you may hear the sounds of glass breaking. If you wake up and follow the source of the sound to the Art Room, you’ll see that inside, there’s broken pieces of glass and plastic on the floor. Look up….
The camera is broken.
Beneath it is Yuri Plisetsky, holding an ice skate in his hand, breathing heavily, bags under his eyes. He doesn’t linger there for long, though.
He’ll move to one of the other cameras in the the hallway and look it straight in the eye. ]
Hey, fuckers! You wanna off me too? Then meet me in the ice rink!
[ And then...he leaves. ]
[ ONLY OPEN TO AKIRA AND KAIBA ]
[ Before Yuri makes his way to the ice rink, there’s one thing Yuri has left to do. He’ll seek out Akira and Kaiba, if they aren’t already in the Art Room, and deliver a message: ]
The camera’s broken in the Art Room. Figure something out. You have time.
[ CLOSED ]
[ Well...he’s here.
He’s on the ice rink, and he’s got a new set of ice skates on. He’s dressed in his normal outfit, hands in his pockets, hood on his head. He’s waiting. He’s here, and he’s ready to rumble.
Don’t stop us now, the moment of truth
We were born to make history ]

TUESDAY
MOTIVE: Got a Secret, Can You Keep It?
Attention, Champions. [It’s Rox. She sounds different from her usual pleased as punch tone when giving out these motives. Today she sounds more restrained, almost professional.] It’s time for your next motive. [Regardless of where they are on the station everyone’s PIPs light up with a new text message.] On your PIPs you’ll see something very personal: your most closely held secret. I know what you’re thinking: “we’re all so close and some of us have already admitted our secrets. What’s the point?”. But do you think people back in your homes will be so forgiving?
If one of you isn’t dead by this Friday your biggest secret will broadcast to everyone you know back home.

Akira has no fucking idea at the time cuz he's sleeping hardcore in the infirmary for most of the day.
He is awake here and there though, and eager for visitors, though he's higher then jesus right now. And food, food plz. When he first wakes up though he asks after a few people: Kaiba, Yuri and Karamatsu]

...He keeps both their letters in his pocket. He just...he needs time to think. It's all too much.
Also that motive he is completely ignoring, he doesn't care anymore, fuck you Rox.
Karamatsu finds himself unable to go back to Akira's room right now, but he needed a reason to be out of it anyway. But he's...not okay, and he needs to be doing something other than sitting, so he visits the new floor and finds himself at the Gym. He doesn't ready himself for a game of lonely horse, though. Instead, he grabs a basketball and just starts throwing it at the wall as hard as he possibly can, letting it thud solidly into his chest every time it bounces back and he catches it. He does this over and over for an hour, occasionally hollering out into the open, empty space of the gymnasium. At least one time he throws the ball and misjudges his catch, earning him a ball solidly to the head with at least a satisfying sound. But he'll be fine, he just curses with his face in his hands for a few long moments before going right back to it.
Later, he visits Yuri's room very briefly, looking for a few things...and when he finds them, he takes them with him to the Music Room. He takes his time looking through the instruments until he finds an acoustic guitar that's much nicer than his own, in brand new condition. He takes a seat with it across his lap. He doesn't start playing it right away because he's holding a cell-phone, and he taps through a few things until he finds where the camera is. He turns it on himself after finding a place to prop it up and presses record.]
...I know you will never see this, Yuri-kun. But. I am going to play something for you, okay? For you...and for everyone else who left us too soon.
[Karamatsu then starts to play on his guitar, and he plays until the phone stops recording on its own.
Finally, towards the end of the day, Karamatsu heads to the bar. He doesn't...particularly want to be here, but for Osomatsu he feels like he should. He's got some plain beer that he sits and sips on every so often. He's not wearing Osomatsu's hoodie anymore, but instead has it tied around his waist, leaving him with a sleeveless grey tank-top and gold necklace, seeing how the rest of his clothing is...gone. Even his broken glasses, left in his jacket pocket.
But he is wearing a red glove. Just one, for some reason.]

[The other champions here, telling people one on one, that's been one thing-]
["Anyone who deserves your friendship won't care if ya are a robot, a human, or something else."]
["Out of everyone here, didja really think there wouldn't be at least one'a us who wouldn't've cared?"]
["Did you think we'd all be afraid of that?"]
["You are more human than most of us here, regardless of what else you might be."]
["You've got a heart and a soul, I can feel it."]
[...How dare they. How dare they try to take the people she'd come to trust and care about and make one of them the price for her secret.]
...CECE? Can I ask you for a favor?
[Not everyone is going to be in the
cafeteria at dinnertime, Penny knows. But it's enough.]
[Even putting in an appearance at a mealtime is probably weird enough, nevermind that she's keeping to the edge of the room, and keeps looking between her feet and the exit back to the hallway.]
I've. Um. I need to-
[She's silent for a long moment, looking at her feet before clenching her eyes shut and yelling-]
I'M NOT A REAL HUMAN AND FUCK THE OVERSEERS IF THEY'RE GOING TO TRY USING THAT AGAINST ME!
[She's instantly silent for a second, wide-eyed and vibrating, before turning on her heel and bolting for the sleeping quarters like a started deer.]
[Anyone who tries following her will find the door to Room 9 locked and unresponsive, but they might notice that the door to Room 11 is slightly ajar.]

Today is... better? Better in the fact that he can think clearer at least, but it's questionable if being able to think is a good thing. While yesterday Akira was giddy with the realization of surviving and adrenaline and good drugs, today he is... well, subdued.
In the morning you might actually catch him up, probably aided by someone, to shower and get clean clothes from his room. But otherwise he's in the infirmary all day. There's not much to do other then talk to Kaiba when they are both awake- otherwise he tries to continue reading Return of the King and... gives up quick. Or you might catch him fiddling with some things from the game room: maybe you can play a little shogi with him or a hand of cards.
Speaking of cards, at one point he's fiddling with the cards, trying to do the trick he did earlier in the month... there's a lot of cards on the floor.]

He frequents the Infirmary many times to visit Kaiba and Akira, and at one point he can be found with a book that he's reading aloud to Akira (and also Kaiba if he wants to listen in).
Later on, he visits a place he's not been to before: The Holodeck.
It...isn't the best place for him to be right now. He knows it's not a good idea and it's only going to serve to upset him, but he...he just needs to be here for a little while.
He sits on the floor in the middle of the room, watching the area around him as it shifts and blossoms into a sight that makes his chest tighten painfully. He's in a small japanese style room with a couch pushed up against the wall and sunlight streaming through the window. He sits off in the more empty part of the room looking in. It's got a bookshelf and a kotatsu in the very center.
But he's watching the figures that mill about the room, one laying on his back reading manga, another sitting at the kotatsu reading a book of job listings with another across from him with his head resting on the table. A third sits on the couch bouncing a bat on his knees, and next to him a fourth is tapping away at a cellphone.
All of their faces are blurred, indistinguishable. They don't acknowledge Karamatsu at all, like he isn't sitting there. But it's probably just because it's not real...right?
In the evening, Karamatsu can be found at the Memorial Wall. He has a bunch of little slips of paper that he's taping up there. They all have little, short messages on them.
We won't give up.
We will fight for you.
You mattered.
I'm sorry.]

After his usual spate of breakfast cooking, he goes up to the greenhouse to spend a little time just sitting beneath a tree. It's good to see plants again, even if it's kind of weird that you can grow stuff like that here in the first place.
Late afternoon, he gets bored with that and goes down to the media room to set up a little movie party. It's nothing official, but he's taken the trouble to set out the sodas and the popcorn, at least, just in case anyone else shows up. Looks like he's watching some animated thing with space in it.
He spends the entire evening after the movie shut up in Room Six. He didn't seem in a particularly bad mood when he headed off there, though, so it's probably okay to visit?]

Everyone,
I understand that the last week has been hard on many of us. That's why I want to put something together for everyone. I'll be in the diner kitchen all day, cooking. If there's a meal you want, come find me and I'll do my best to make it for you. If there's nothing you want, or you can't eat, I invite you to come help me cook for everyone else. Either way, let's all meet at dinner time and have a nice meal together, okay?
Manaka ♡
[Manaka won't be back to check any answers written here, so you'll have to talk to her in person. She's in the diner, just as the note says, from breakfast until dinner time.]
