Week 2

[The second week in the Champion Excellence Program kicks off on a somber note. Chitanda, Toby, the Griffin- all three of them gone, two of them in one fell swoop. If anyone thinks to check the profiles on their P.I.P.s they will find that the dearly departed Champions' profile photos have been greyed out.

Right on the dot at 7 am the mechanical woman's voice chimes to awaken the remaining champions on Sunday morning, as she has for the past week. After the initial wake-up call though there's a new message tacked on:]

Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your first trial, you have unlocked the second floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the second floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.

[The new floor isn't the only thing floating around the ship though, at least metaphorically. When the Champions are awakened they have regained one new memory from the ones they've lost. Starting again on Sunday, as well, Jamie and Bolton will be back to their usual office hours in their usual locations.]

Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday

[ooc: welcome to week 2, everyone! Check-in has begun and don't forget to submit your memory regains!]

Mods please, investigating the music room

[personal profile] stitch_in_time 2017-02-23 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[In the morning, after scrubbing out the showers, the Doctor can be found in the music room. He's carefully looking over the instruments, scribbling a series of circular characters on a notepad. He's looking, as usual, for anything out of place, but more specifically to see if there are any electronic instruments available or if everything is acoustic.]

[Later in the morning he can be found in there experimenting with some of the instruments, playing a few simple tunes on one of the recorders before shaking his head and putting it back.]

Nope, still doesn't feel right anymore.

[Later on, he can be found in the diner enjoying something besides the cafeteria food and MREs. It's a simple burger and fries chips, but it's some actual food for once. He does seem to be paying a lot of attention to the little model rockets that are bringing out the food, tracking them around the restaurant and back into the 'kitchen' area.]

How the hell they're cookin' all this on demand is what I'd like to know.

diner

Didn't we have the packaged food in the kitchen because you can't have normal food in space? I know they had the scheduled meals but...

[Look who's finally looking around here. She's staring grumpily at her plate of burger and chips, not even touching it.]

On older space-flights, yeah. Flights where you had to worry about storage space an' weight and power.

[Have a deep-fried potato, Natsuhi. They taste like salt and delicious regret.]

Place like this, there's power for refrigeration and freezing, and that's assuming they're not just teleporting in stuff fresh as-needed.

[personal profile] refusedtoleave 2017-02-25 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
They had books on space farming too.

[She's learning all these things she's never even thought of before. Her husband would have been so jealous about this.]

Is it bad that I hope it's a teleported? Then we'd have a way of getting out of here...
stitch_in_time: (that's not supposed to happen)

[personal profile] stitch_in_time 2017-02-25 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, farming's more for new planetary colonies, or generational ships that'd be much bigger than this place.

[Well, probably. But that'd mean a LOT of floors they haven't found yet.]

And no, a teleporter that actually left this place'd be damn useful, if we could get to it.
refusedtoleave: (Um)

[personal profile] refusedtoleave 2017-02-26 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
They did say that staying here was an option... And we don't know if White and Fell are the only ones from this place yet.

Would you know how to use one? A teleporter, I mean, if they really do exist.
stitch_in_time: (no I'm a Time Lord)

[personal profile] stitch_in_time 2017-02-27 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
If I didn't, I'll eat my jumpsuit.

[Doctor please don't tempt fate like that.]

No matter how advanced it might be, the base tech's gonna be the same.
refusedtoleave: (Hehe)

[personal profile] refusedtoleave 2017-02-27 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[It earns him a wry smile.]

Is that why there's so many things that are the same for us?
stitch_in_time: (worth it)

[personal profile] stitch_in_time 2017-03-16 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, parallel development of technologies. Even across disparate timelines, people tend to discover things in sort of the same order, unless there's some really major difference in the base conditions.
refusedtoleave: (Um)

[personal profile] refusedtoleave 2017-03-16 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Does that mean the things mentioned in the library will happen where I'm from?
ratherdoweddings: (anime's taught me these lessons)

music room

[personal profile] ratherdoweddings 2017-02-24 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
You play it too? Did everyone learn the recorder back home?
stitch_in_time: (so much brooding)

[personal profile] stitch_in_time 2017-02-24 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Used to carry one of these things around with me all the time. More or less.

[He inspects the recorder a bit more before replacing it on the rack.]

I was a different person, back then. Just doesn't quite feel right anymore, y'know?
ratherdoweddings: (if you're part of a team)

[personal profile] ratherdoweddings 2017-02-24 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
I guess everybody outgrows something sooner or later! I wet the bed until grade five!
stitch_in_time: (no I'm a Time Lord)

[personal profile] stitch_in_time 2017-02-24 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
[Yurika, why do you sound so cheerful about that.]

...I'll keep that between us.
ratherdoweddings: (no matter how much)

[personal profile] ratherdoweddings 2017-02-25 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
I think it's a good thing to be honest with your crew! After all, I don't do it anymore, so there's no problem!
stitch_in_time: (that's not supposed to happen)

[personal profile] stitch_in_time 2017-02-25 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Are we your crew now, then?
ratherdoweddings: (there must be more i could achieve)

[personal profile] ratherdoweddings 2017-02-25 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
As long as we're here, we should be unified, right?
stitch_in_time: (looks like rain)

[personal profile] stitch_in_time 2017-02-26 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Should be, yeah. Hopefully will be. Just a question of whether everyone'll stick with that.

[If the worst they had to deal with was shower duty, he might have more hope. If Bolton has another incentive like the one from last week, though...]
ratherdoweddings: (are crazy as all @*(^$)

[personal profile] ratherdoweddings 2017-02-26 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Some people might not, but I hope what we've seen is the worst of it.
stitch_in_time: (dammit)

[personal profile] stitch_in_time 2017-02-27 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
I dunno if it could get much worse than that.

[He gets somber for a second, remembering the crime scene.]

...She wanted to see the stars. Chitanda. More of them, anyway. She tell you that at all? Kidnapped into space an' it just made her want to explore.
ratherdoweddings: (to the earth)

[personal profile] ratherdoweddings 2017-02-27 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Eru-chan... None of this is fair. We should have been able to escape.
stitch_in_time: (so much brooding)

[personal profile] stitch_in_time 2017-02-24 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
[Yeah, that'd be too easy. Nothing to scavenge for parts, even if he had any kind of proper tools.]

[And more suspiciously new things. Whoever's funding all this really must have deep pockets.]

[Anything else that might be unusual, while he's here?]
