Week 2

[The second week in the Champion Excellence Program kicks off on a somber note. Chitanda, Toby, the Griffin- all three of them gone, two of them in one fell swoop. If anyone thinks to check the profiles on their P.I.P.s they will find that the dearly departed Champions' profile photos have been greyed out.

Right on the dot at 7 am the mechanical woman's voice chimes to awaken the remaining champions on Sunday morning, as she has for the past week. After the initial wake-up call though there's a new message tacked on:]

Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your first trial, you have unlocked the second floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the second floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.

[The new floor isn't the only thing floating around the ship though, at least metaphorically. When the Champions are awakened they have regained one new memory from the ones they've lost. Starting again on Sunday, as well, Jamie and Bolton will be back to their usual office hours in their usual locations.]

Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday

[ooc: welcome to week 2, everyone! Check-in has begun and don't forget to submit your memory regains!]

[Oh, hello Rukia. Are we talking about rabbits? They're the shit.]

Yes, they do. It's called Easter, and it's supposed to be about Jesus, but my Dad and I aren't particularly religious, so we do more of the rabbits and eggs kind of thing. It's actually really cute.

Well, I've heard a lot about the religious part so far, so what's the other stuff about, then?

[Oh boy this is going to be fun. The rabbit motif follows Jane everywhere, so it's not surprising that she smiles as she goes on about it all.]

Well, for little children, the popular myth is that a large, kindly rabbit called the Easter Bunny visits houses on the night before Easter Sunday and leaves them baskets of goodies. Usually these are filled with candy like rabbits made out of chocolate, jelly beans, marshmallows, pretty much anything wrapped or colored in pastels. There might also be cheap little toys in the basket, too, and usually there are plastic eggs that you can open up and find little treasures in, like money perhaps, or smaller candies. Then there are egg hunts, where you go searching for either the plastic eggs or hardboiled, colored eggs that the Easter Bunny has supposedly hidden. Usually the hunts are organized outside, but my Dad started holding them for me in the house when it was getting too dangerous for me to just be wandering around looking for eggs...er, that and he was a touch paranoid. But by that point, I knew he was the one hiding the eggs and leaving the basket for me, anyway.

There's also coloring the hardboiled eggs, which I know can be a big custom in lots of parts of the world. At home we usually just get one of the little cheap kits that has little color tablets you let soak in cups of water and vinegar until the mixture changes color, and then you let the eggs sit in there and the shells turn, but I'm fairly certain Europe gets pretty fancy with their eggs. Still, once the eggs are colored, you can save them for a day or so and then peel the shells off and eat them, or use them to decorate Easter Breads. Basically, Easter customs have a lot of fun and a lot of springy colors and candy involved.
