Week 2

[The second week in the Champion Excellence Program kicks off on a somber note. Chitanda, Toby, the Griffin- all three of them gone, two of them in one fell swoop. If anyone thinks to check the profiles on their P.I.P.s they will find that the dearly departed Champions' profile photos have been greyed out.

Right on the dot at 7 am the mechanical woman's voice chimes to awaken the remaining champions on Sunday morning, as she has for the past week. After the initial wake-up call though there's a new message tacked on:]

Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your first trial, you have unlocked the second floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the second floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.

[The new floor isn't the only thing floating around the ship though, at least metaphorically. When the Champions are awakened they have regained one new memory from the ones they've lost. Starting again on Sunday, as well, Jamie and Bolton will be back to their usual office hours in their usual locations.]

[Is she expecting another ball thrown to knock hers out of the air? Because that's a thing that's happening.]

Hah, it won't be as easy as that.

You are good at this.

[Yurika doesn't stray far from her station, just enough to grab the nearest ball and jump back. She deflects an incoming ball with it before flinging it at Margulis.]

[He ducks into a roll under the ball and comes up with one of his own. When he stands, there's a look of entertainment on his face only Xander and McBurn will recognize.]

You don't get to be my age in active duty without using firearms or AGWS unless you're good.

[And that ball is getting thrown right for Yurika's legs.]

Whoa!

[Yurika dives to the side and winces as she falls.]

Lightning-san was right. But don't worry, we won't go down easy!

[She gets up and runs back for the ball.]

I'd be disappointed if you did. It's boring if the other side goes down too quickly.

[He walks almost casually towards the nearest ball while Yurika is getting to her feet. Though he seems leisurely about it, he's also taking the time to look around the field.]

[Yurika sees that, probably because she's doing the same thing. She appears to start aiming at someone else, but re-targets Margulis again while he's on the move.]

[misplacedxsheath]

[He keeps hold of his dodgeball while Yurika is apparently aiming elsewhere and whips it up to block.]

Hah, you think I don't know that old trick?

[Yurika stumbles back and looks around at her team.]

Watch out!

[misplacedxsheath]

[That gets a laugh before he tosses his ball up and down a couple times and throws it, aimed directly for Yurika's gut. Fortunately, despite his competitive streak, he does know the limits of a friendly match. It might sting if it hits, but it won't really hurt.]

Gh--!

[Yurika goes to catch it. Before she can grab it, though, it slams into her and knocks her down to skid across the floor.

Out!]

Hmm...your balance could use some work.

[Oh well. This is just a game, so it's something she can work on later.]

Now they tell me...
