Week 2

[The second week in the Champion Excellence Program kicks off on a somber note. Chitanda, Toby, the Griffin- all three of them gone, two of them in one fell swoop. If anyone thinks to check the profiles on their P.I.P.s they will find that the dearly departed Champions' profile photos have been greyed out.

Right on the dot at 7 am the mechanical woman's voice chimes to awaken the remaining champions on Sunday morning, as she has for the past week. After the initial wake-up call though there's a new message tacked on:]

Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your first trial, you have unlocked the second floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the second floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.

[The new floor isn't the only thing floating around the ship though, at least metaphorically. When the Champions are awakened they have regained one new memory from the ones they've lost. Starting again on Sunday, as well, Jamie and Bolton will be back to their usual office hours in their usual locations.]

[...Oh. Not that Seth apparently can see it, but that's a blink of genuine surprise. Shadow (surprisingly enough) does as he's told, moving around to Seth's good side.] I didn't know. [An apology without actually apologizing.]

I've found that these books are only vaguely helpful, and if ever we find spacesuits and an actual airlock as well as tools, we might be able to make some repairs. [That's some sarcasm up in there. Super useful, right?] It's possible these are just here to make fun of us. [Like. Fucking trash compactor, man. It screams 'throw a body in me'.]

Most don't. I don't broadcast that I'm blind in one eye.

[ That's good. He'll keep an eye on Shadow. ]

...Well, we won't know how useful this information is until we scour every last bit of it. Which I intend to do.

No, I don't suppose you would. [Makes him easier to sneak up on.]

It's frustrating not to find anything useful yet, but persistence may yet yield. Are you looking for anything specific?

I'm hoping that, somewhere, buried in all of this, there's specs for this station. Maybe then we can know what to hope for or maybe even where escape pods are. Those should be standard just in case of a catastrophic failure.

Even if so, Bolton didn't seem to think rescue from here was very likely. If you believe him.

This station specifically might not be listed. Seems like it was a pet project. But still, to find something even similar... [Does he have a pile of books on the topic? I'm going to assume yes just so he can motion to it--] May I assist, or is this something you would rather trust yourself with? [Honestly it's more or less what he was already going to keep looking into as it is, rather than specifically to help.]

Rescue, no. Escape? Yes. That is more likely. But please, take a look. I could use another set of eyes to get things done faster.

[ The more people looking out for things, the better. ]

[Cool cool he'll dive right in. And he'll even make sure to stay within Seth's line of sight when he settles in. Sure, the guy's a little offputting, but Shadow doesn't seem to have any actual problem with him.]

I refuse to believe the teleporter only operates within the confines of the station. It's likely how they get supplies.

Oh, it probably does reach off the station, unless they have a farm and garden on another floor. But we don't have access to that.

There doesn't seem to be anything nearby that we are aware of, but that doesn't mean it's out of range. There could very well be a greenhouse of some sort for fresh foods, but...would even all of that be automated? Are there workers here behind the scenes we aren't seeing? To keep up the sense of isolation.
