Week 2

[The second week in the Champion Excellence Program kicks off on a somber note. Chitanda, Toby, the Griffin- all three of them gone, two of them in one fell swoop. If anyone thinks to check the profiles on their P.I.P.s they will find that the dearly departed Champions' profile photos have been greyed out.

Right on the dot at 7 am the mechanical woman's voice chimes to awaken the remaining champions on Sunday morning, as she has for the past week. After the initial wake-up call though there's a new message tacked on:]

Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your first trial, you have unlocked the second floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the second floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.

[The new floor isn't the only thing floating around the ship though, at least metaphorically. When the Champions are awakened they have regained one new memory from the ones they've lost. Starting again on Sunday, as well, Jamie and Bolton will be back to their usual office hours in their usual locations.]

Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday

[ooc: welcome to week 2, everyone! Check-in has begun and don't forget to submit your memory regains!]

Sounds a bit like me and Loewe, but he's an Enforcer like myself even if we often get sent to different places in Zemuria. Still, your world is just astounding. We don't even have a name for our planet, much less consider traveling to others yet. Makes me wonder if both of us get home if you could find your way to mine someday.

There was a time...when Uzuki and myself fought alongside each other. But that time is long in the past, we've each made our choices and it's clear that we stand in firm opposition to one another. When I get out of here, I'll be sure to deliver him the death he deserves for the side he chose.

And it most certainly is when, consider the possibility of defeat and it wears away at your conviction. However, I have my doubts I'll come across your planet. We've explored much of the galaxy and have yet to come across any life besides the Gnosis.

I think I'd agree with that if Loewe left us and joined one of our enemies instead of dying on us. Seems wars in space don't have much difference than wars among nations even if I don't get what all that stuff you mentioned is. Definitely don't have those Gnosis you mentioned unless that's another term for monsters.
misplacedxsheath: (Hmmm...I'll consider it.)

War is always the same, the only difference is scale and the level of destruction.

Gnosis are...they could be described as monsters, yes. They've also been referred to as ghosts. Little is known about what they truly are, but they exist purely in Imaginary Space, the realm of the soul that exists alongside the physical world. A number of them, at least, also used to be human, so there may be some merit to calling them ghosts. But whatever their true nature is, they're uniformly hostile to all forms of life.

Yeah, we definitely don't have stuff like that. The monsters are aggressive beasts that prowl roads between cities, but definitely living beings.

Then more like predatory animals than true monsters. I envy the simplicity of it...such an infestation merely requires a few skilled and persistent warriors to repel.

That and the cities keeping the orbment lights in good order. Those keep the monsters away from towns, skilled warriors deal with the dangerous ones on roads. Might have been an enjoyable job if I was able to live among normal people.

If? You make it sound as if it's a sheer impossibility.

[He's silent for a moment, debating on if he should even mention it. It's what was likely in the envelope he burned after all.]

Who would want someone unnatural living among them that could burn down their homes with a mere thought? It happened when my abilities first manifested and I'd prefer it not happen again.

[He's evidently had enough of abusing the poor punching bag, since he lets it settle back into its place.]

Unnatural? Where I'm from, 'unnatural' individuals are commonplace enough that even the most intolerant must at least suffer their existence. Though it is true most people fear that which is greater than they are...even if it is foolish to base expectations on something that occurred when you were unaware of your capabilities.

It's incredibly rare, to the point that "mixed" is my own term for it. Sounds like in your world it's an every day thing to meet one. In mine one can go a lifetime without meeting one like me.
misplacedxsheath: (Hmmm...I'll consider it.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-02-21 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Realians and Life Recycling Variants exist everywhere, and the latter can be indistinguishable from ordinary humans until you witness them using a superhuman ability that isn't a result of Ethers. Naturally, many don't like it and view them with distrust, but none would be shocked to discover someone isn't quite entirely human. Hmph, perhaps you'd fit in better in my world...even if the location meant to give such people a refuge from racist attitudes is run by my enemies.

[personal profile] almightyconflagration 2017-02-21 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
I might consider that. Especially if you can handle me not holding back. I admit, fighting one of those ES Craft sounds tempting.

[And yes, he's meaning without him having one himself.]
misplacedxsheath: (Hmmm...I'll consider it.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-02-21 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, I'm sure that could be arranged. Perhaps the Gad, Richard is a skilled pilot with high affinity for the Vessels of Anima and he could use an outlet. Of course, I'd have to have the mechanics disable the Naglfar cannon, that thing isn't suited to combat aboard a ship. And if you're truly on par with myself and Uzuki, you may be able to push him to an Awakening even on foot...
