Week 3
[Four people dead now - six, if you include the crew. Things have been a little rough on the Starfield Penitentiary this week. Blaze Dudely doesn't make a public reappearance during the weekend, so you've got a few days to yourselves to recover, though he's probably still sticking to his office hours if you really feel like going to see him. On Sunday morning, you may find that you're recovering a a few other things as well - both strange dreams and some new items.
In addition, there's a new set of doors at the end of the corridor, by that empty space where you'd been having your fight club. Looks like you've got a new wing to explore.]

It takes a while to track down a kettle and tea strainer, now that there's no cook to show her around the kitchen, but when CT curls up in the library with a fresh pot of tea and her new book, it's all worth it. She closes her eyes and takes a long sniff of the steam wafting up, then gets settled in, careful not to spill a drop on the pages of The Tale of the Champion.
The author's name on the front cover makes her raise her eyebrows in mild surprise. So he'd been telling the truth about writing down their story, after all.
The book can only hold her attention for so long, though, and there's more to do. Checking out the new wing of the ship is first on the list. There's not much to hold her interest in the arts and crafts room, but she can be found examining every inch of the Room of Fire and the Infirmary, searching for anything useful or any clue about what they're really doing here. There has to be a reason for that deathtrap of an incinerator room. Or are they just trying to make it easier for the next killer to cover their tracks? ]
Room of Fire
[Apollo what are you doing and why are you insinuating this.]
no subject
CT whips her head around, looking at her roommate and deliberately shifting to ensure she's not showing her her back. ]
...What are you talking about?
no subject
And hey, she wasn't going to shove her! That's un-knightly.]
Just saying this room looks like an accident waiting to happen.
no subject
Yeah. It does.
[ She crosses her arms over her chest. ]
What about it?
no subject
[Don't think so highly of yourself.]
no subject
Well, goodie for you. Congratulations.
[ She raises an eyebrow. ]
Did you want something? You know there's like ten other rooms where you could be, right?
no subject
[She rolls her own eyes but her helmet is still on, so:]
Is that a problem?
no subject
Don't let me stop you.
[ She's just gonna be watching you the whole time. Don't let it get to you. ]

But she looked at peace, reading her book and sipping her tea, and in that moment, the dwarf couldn't bring himself to bother her with darker subjects. Besides, he could use a friend to talk about books with.
It was only once he drew close and lifted his hand that he spotted both the title and the author of the book.]
The hell is that -- [He spoke softly, mostly to himself, before jerking his head up to look at the woman.]
Can I see that, Soldier?
no subject
It's pretty good.
[ She flips it shut, studying the cover, but doesn't hand it over just yet. ]
A little unbelievable, but I guess that's fantasy for you.
no subject
[Varric peered at the cover once more, still looking quite incredulous. He chewed on his cheek for a moment, trying to think of a way of figuring out what the hell the book was about without revealing the gaps in his memory.]
Never mind. What's been your favorite part so far?
no subject
...The parts with Merrill in them.
[ The characters are what's really keeping her attention so far, rather than the plot. ]
Using string to keep from getting lost in the city. And - [ She glances at Varric with an almost shy smile. ] You, paying off people not to attack her when she wanders at night, and her not even knowing it.
[ Like she said, unbelievable. But the string is a cute idea, and the care this fictionalized version of Varric shows for his friend is heartwarming. ]

[Varric swallowed. He didn't make a habit of writing about his friends, not directly at least. Sure, there were characters based off of people, but he preferred a hint of subtlety.
After swallowing hard and licking his now dry lips, the dwarf tilted his head upward.]
Of course. Daisy's something special, alright.
What part are you on now?
[Most likely, this was a chronicle of some sort. Varric just needed to get a feel for what exactly it was meant to be chronicling. The titular champion, he would assume, but who that was...
Well, he had a few guesses, but he hoped they were wrong. Most heroes didn't get a happy ending, after all.]
no subject
[ A scowl crosses her face, her earlier amusement disappearing as she shakes her head in disapproval. ]
I knew Bartrand was kind of a dick, but...
[ She trails off, then looks intently at Varric, leaning forward a little. ]
You get him back for that. Right? He better not just get away with leaving you all there to die.
no subject
Do you really want to spoil it?
[Varric wasn't sure whether or not he was speaking to himself or the woman. Bartrand, Leandra, losing Carver and Anders nearly losing himself. Things were spiraling for Hawke, and he wanted -- needed to know if there was any redemption to be found.
Never mind the hell Kirkwall itself was currently suffering.]
I know you're in the thick of it but is there any way I can see that? Shouldn't take me more than a day. There's just... something I want to confirm.
no subject
Still...she doesn't get it. ]
Confirm what? You wrote it, didn't you? [ She frowns. ] Shouldn't you know what it says?

room of fire
Is it really safe to be looking around in here?
no subject
[ She makes no move to leave the room, though. ]
Which means it's a great hiding place for anything anyone doesn't want found.
no subject
That could be extremely dangerous though.
no subject
Yeah, that's what "not safe" means.
[ She's still poking around curiously. ]
no subject
It looks like it's some kind of incinerator. [She kneels down, looking at the marks on the floor.] Maybe it's brand new.
no subject
[ Definitely an incinerator. She frowns, studying the marks alongside Pyrrha. ]
But why is it here? There's not enough of us to generate that much trash, and what we do produce can just be vented into space.
no subject
Maybe Blaze doesn't want it to be used just for trash.
no subject
He wants us to kill again.
He's trying to make it easier for the next killer to get away with it.
