Week 3

[Four people dead now - six, if you include the crew. Things have been a little rough on the Starfield Penitentiary this week. Blaze Dudely doesn't make a public reappearance during the weekend, so you've got a few days to yourselves to recover, though he's probably still sticking to his office hours if you really feel like going to see him. On Sunday morning, you may find that you're recovering a a few other things as well - both strange dreams and some new items.

In addition, there's a new set of doors at the end of the corridor, by that empty space where you'd been having your fight club. Looks like you've got a new wing to explore.]

[ She makes no move to leave the room, though. ]

Which means it's a great hiding place for anything anyone doesn't want found.

That could be extremely dangerous though.

[ If you're not paranoid about everything you're not doing it right. ]

Yeah, that's what "not safe" means.

[ She's still poking around curiously. ]

[BOI if she was paranoid about everything. Aahaha.]

It looks like it's some kind of incinerator. [She kneels down, looking at the marks on the floor.] Maybe it's brand new.

Yeah.

[ Definitely an incinerator. She frowns, studying the marks alongside Pyrrha. ]

But why is it here? There's not enough of us to generate that much trash, and what we do produce can just be vented into space.

[tokencanadian]

[Pyrrha's quiet for a very long moment, running her fingers along the marks. She has an idea, and she doesn't want to voice it, but if she doesn't...]

Maybe Blaze doesn't want it to be used just for trash.

[ Her thoughts exactly. CT glances over at her. ]

He wants us to kill again.

He's trying to make it easier for the next killer to get away with it.

With an incinerator? That's just...

[She sits there for a moment. Just. Speechless.

It's inhuman, is what it is. Or is it her paranoia ramping up?]

[ ...

Pyrrha no. ]

...To burn the body.

[ CT says slowly, watching her warily. Holy shit, dude. ]

To hide the evidence.

[Pyrrha yes.]

But... that's just ridiculous, isn't it?

[Give it a few days, and it really will be inhuman.]

What's ridiculous about it?

The last person got caught. If there's no body, then maybe there's no way to figure out who did it.

It makes sense.

[ It's horrible, but what here isn't? ]

I just... don't want to think that someone here would actually do that.

[Because she's just a little innocent.]

Or would be tempted to.

They will.

[ She's certain of that, even if she doesn't know that extra motives Dudely might give them to encourage it. Just the hope of getting off the ship will be enough for somebody, eventually. ]

Someone will.

I hope not.

[It's the most she can hope for, it seems, with this group. Blaze was clearly thinking ahead when he came up with this idea.]

It would be... so obvious, wouldn't it? Maybe that would deter people.

Maybe.

[ She shrugs. It's possible. CT had thought of it, after all. Maybe it is too obvious. ]

It doesn't change that that's why they put it here, though.

[If you knew you could be thrown into an incinerator, you'd do your best to keep away from it, wouldn't you? Pyrrha would hate getting burned.]

It's definitely more likely then being put there just for garbage. It's far too big for that.

Yeah.

[ She looks at the incinerator again, huge and foreboding. ]

It's a prop. A tool.

[ Just like the metal spikes in the exercise yard. A deathtrap waiting to happen. ]

A tool for murder?

[Almost probably. That mess in the exercise yard isn't much better. She had thought about both a lot in this short time. What could she do to get rid of it?]

It would be a gruesome way to go.

[ Better get on that, Pyrrha. You never know who might end up impaled. ]

So is Dudely's idea of justice, apparently.

[ She snorts derisively. ]

He probably likes the spectacle.

I don't know why anyone would. Imagine... watching someone die for the entertainment.

[It's too hard for Pyrrha to think about.]

I don't have to imagine it. I've seen it.

[ She's seen Dudely's face during the trials. Heard him gleefully announce the motives. Hunching her shoulders up, she turns away from the incinerator. ]
