[The Champions have had their first deliberate murders this week, and just like that, Prompto and Lunafreya are gone. Slaine followed them shortly after, however most people may feel about that.

This time, C.E.C.E.'s addition to the morning announcement probably doesn't come as much of a surprise:]

Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your second trial, you have unlocked the third floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the second floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.

[In addition to the new floor, the Champions will find that they've gained another memory this week.]

[Osomatsu's spending most of the day today taking care of a massive hangover from the night before, but at some point during the head he heads to the second floor to get some food from the diner. That's when he walks by the pool, and notices Korra in there looking like she's about to do something.. and it has him a litttttttle worried. Just a tad.]

Uh.. Korra-chan?

[newcycle]

... What if no one could murder anyone here again?

[titularly]

Then they'd just... murder someone somewhere else.

[Osomatsu steps into the room a little more, and eyes the controls.]

You're not thinking of doing something stupid, are you?

[newcycle]

It's not stupid to take away their options. It's not.

Luna and Prompto died here.

[titularly]

But like.. what if you get in trouble? I mean.. you saw what happened to Chloe-chan.

I dunno if there's a rule against breaking their stuff but I wouldn't chance it.

[newcycle]

I-I'm tired of being afraid of them and their stupid rules.

[fire knife is a go]

They let you break them if you're murdering someone. Guess it must not be that important to them.

[titularly]

O-okay, but that's only if you're doing what they want you to do! And unless you decide to stab me with that knife, then you're gonna get in trouble and I don't wanna watch someone else die again!

[newcycle]

[she pauses, and then looks a little apologetic]

N-No, I'm not trying to force anything like that on you! I just... Osomatsu, what do we do? We can't keep going like this.

[titularly]

....

[To that, Osomatsu does what he does best when his brothers come to him with a serious issue like this. He reaches out and grips her wrist tightly and tugs her forward, so he can pull her into a small, slightly awkward embrace.]

No, we definitely can't. It's scary that people keep dying every week... even after we keep telling each other that we wouldn't play their games. It's scary and it's stupid, and I wish there was a way to just stop it all and go back home.

[newcycle]

[oso... she just. She didn’t know she needed this but she does. And she quickly wraps her arms around him, returning the hug. But the problem is, she just. Has too many feelings, and she’s so mad, so frustrated about losing Luna.

It’s nice to hear someone agree with her.

But also damn it, she’s crying again]

Thank you, Osomatsu...

[With Korra returning the hug, and thanking Osomatsu he can't help it when his cheeks flush a little pink. It's not like he's ever, honestly hugged a girl other than his mother before and it.. feels nice to have someone thank him, genuinely. Though he knows she'd never be interested in someone like him, he tightens his arms around her anyway to just enjoy the moment. It's something both of them needed, honestly.]

We'll figure something out, yeah?

[newcycle]

[It was, she has to choke back tears because everything, all of it? It's still raw. And she hates, more than anything, feeling helpless.

But between this and her memories, that's all she feels.]

And people say you don't take things seriously. I feel better already.

[titularly]

Do people say that?

[Osomatsu says that with a little bit of a laugh to his voice, and if he were taller he'd probably ruffle her hair or something around now... but actually, Korra would probably hate that wouldn't she?]

[newcycle]

Maybe.

[a pause, and then a grin.]

But I do know one thing: you are not a waste of space.

[titularly]

[That actually gets Osomatsu to freeze, longer than he means to. His arms are still around Korra when she says that and there's.. an admittedly awkward pause of silence before he very subtly tightens his grip around her.. maybe buries his face in her shirt a little bit.]


....y'think so?

[It's.. admittedly something that's bothered him since he arrived. He's used to being called a useless piece of shit from his brothers but everyone else had talents for their titles..]

[newcycle]

[how could she not notice that? And then... she feels a little bad, because how couldn't he notice his title?

So she's earnest in her reply.]

Yeah.

What about... Champion picker-upper? Or-- champion of not taking things overly serious?

Or...

[titularly]

.....Champion older brother would be pretty good.

[Osomatsu says that a little muffled, halfway mumbled into her shirt.]

.... Champion Older Brother it is.

[titularly]

[That has Osomatsu finally pull back away from Korra, so she can see the wide grin spread across his face.]

Y'know, I came to see if you were okay but now I feel like I'm the one who got some major comforting here.

You should be the Champion Kindest Heart or something like that.

[newcycle]

[Oh, Korra just grins a little wider at that.]

Nah... All in a day's work for the Avatar.

Besides, who says you didn't comfort me? And... maybe stop me from ruining the ice rink for Yuri.

[titularly]

Hah! Well that would just be all in a day's work for the world's best older brother, wouldn't it?

[Not that he's.. even really older than Korra honestly. But he's also not really older than his twin brothers, either.]

It's probably a good thing you didn't destroy the rink, though. I'm pretty sure Yuri woulda' flipped out if you had.

[newcycle]

Yeah... Maybe.

It's still really tempting though... I just don't want anyone to die in such an awful way again.

[a pause]

Even Slaine... I'm really angry at him, but that was an awful way to die. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

[titularly]

Yeah I.. yeah.

[Bringing it up again just makes him remember and.. god.]

...you know, when we first got here I told Tsurugi-kun that I wanted to see someone explode in space, 'cause I wasn't taking it seriously.

I feel like I must've jinxed everyone or something.

[newcycle]

[she bites her lip, and then... pats his shoulder.]

It's not your fault. I don't think any of us took this as seriously as we should have.

I still regret not going after Rox when Chloe did. Maybe we would've escaped.

[titularly]

We might've... but you also could'a just gotten killed, too.

[Osomatsu offers her a small smile, then.]

And if that happened, I wouldn't've gotten a chance to actually get to know you better, y'know?
