[The Champions have now been here for one week, and while the dud of a first incentive didn't tempt anybody, the fact remains obvious: a lack of murder isn't going to be the thing that gets you out of here.

Blaze Dudely and Rox have not made a reappearance since Tuesday, leaving you to your own devices for the moment. That door they entered and exited through remains locked, and there is no new area to access this week. Are you sure they're even still back there? Despite their absence, you all wake up on Sunday morning from strange dreams. What to make of it?

[Maybe 'nice' isn't the word, but how else can he express what it would mean to have her memory acknowledged like that? To ease her absence a little by remembering her presence?]

Yeah, I - that's fair, I won't ask. But it sounded like she had a rough life back home, and she never even got that into it with me.

Yeah. It was bad. And in the end, she... she did something really selfless, in spite of everything.

Yeah. It was...she tried. We all knew it was a bad idea, but she tried. Even made her bleed.

I guess... that proves we can get 'em, at least. If we're fast enough. Have the right opportunity.

[But he doesn't sound too hopeful about the prospect.]

Yeah...don't do anything reckless, though. They're gonna be looking out for it from now on.

Yeah. Seriously, I'm not the reckless type. [He's the 'can we go home and play video games instead?' type.] And anyway, I can't risk it. Not while Lady Lunafreya's here.

Have you two known each other a while?

[But he pauses, tilts his head as he considers that statement, and then revises.]

We've known of each other for a long time, but never met in person until, uh. Here. [He waves a hand at the station in general.] It's a friend of a fiancé kind of thing. Her fiancé! Not mine.

Oh - oh, that's neat. Some kinda royal wedding set-up?

Yep! Noct and Lady Lunafreya were--are?--uh, a lot happened, but the whole reason we left Insomnia in the first place was so the two of them could get married. Like for a peace treaty thing.

Oh. Are you two’s countries not, like...friendly?

Lucis and Tenebrae are. But Niflheim took over Tenebrae tttttwelve? Twelve years ago. [Yes.] That's why the profile calls Lady Lunafreya a 'former' princess. She's been their captive that whole time.

Oh, man. I just assumed that was like...I dunno, not that. [He hadn't thought a lot about it, but he probably would've leaned closer to "constitutional monarchy fading out" or something.] So Niflheim's masterminding it? She seems...into it, though.

[Not that it would have much to do with the guy himself, but who wants to marry someone because their captors said so?]

Into--? Oh, into marrying Noct. Haha, yeah, well, they were friends as kids. They kept an exchange diary over the years, he gets embarrassed about it, it's really sweet.

[His best friend is a lovey-dovey D O R K. His expression softens as his gaze skitters away.]

Seeing her again is... pretty much what's kept him going all this time. I mean, yeah, we all want to take the Empire down and free our homelands and stop the daemons from taking over, but with Noct's dad gone and all, I think... whatever they have, if it's, like, romantic or not, it's important. To both of them.

[He knits his hands together and nods to himself.]

That's why I've gotta bring her home.

Oh - my god, that's really cute.

[romAAAAAAAntic! or something! But yeah, then we're getting serious, and Max nods.]

Right. I'm sure you can keep her safe - probably won't be too hard, everybody here likes her. [He doesn't think, if someone were going to kill, that they'd choose her. Even if by killing at all, they are choosing to try and kill her in the end.]

Heh, I hope so! Still not properly trained to be a bodyguard, dude. The easier, the better.

To be fair, none of us are trained as, like, assassins either. It’s totally not a traditional bodyguard gig. And you’ve got fighting experience of some kind, right?

Yeah, I do. Um. Mostly not against people, though. I had like a crash course in self-defense before we left for Noct's wedding, and that's really all the Crownsguard training I got. Everything else I just kind of... picked up along the way.
