Week 2

Week 2

[The Champions have now been here for one week, and while the dud of a first incentive didn't tempt anybody, the fact remains obvious: a lack of murder isn't going to be the thing that gets you out of here.

Blaze Dudely and Rox have not made a reappearance since Tuesday, leaving you to your own devices for the moment. That door they entered and exited through remains locked, and there is no new area to access this week. Are you sure they're even still back there? Despite their absence, you all wake up on Sunday morning from strange dreams. What to make of it?

You can only hope it's not a bad omen for the rest of the week.]

Sunday | Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday

(( Don't forget to turn in your AC for Week 1, submit your memory regain, and turn in your Benefactor threads! ))

I don't know. Perhaps it's randomized in some way? Or some ill-planned way to get us to interact more with one another.

[After their last talk, he's...more wary of her and her thought process. But willing to listen. For now.]

What did you need?

It's about the incentive they gave us to kill.

What do you think about it?

[He thinks that, given there's one person that he's aware of she seems like she'd do anything for, she's not to be underestimated.]

It's infuriatingly effective at getting a rise out of most of us.

That's obvious. [It's true, that she would kill without a second thought to protect Saber. But, right now, she doesn't seem nearly as incensed as one might expect from her.] But in your opinion, are their threats well-founded? A fabrication? Something else?

[Now that's a good question he's given plenty of thought to, and he looks away to gather said thoughts.]

There is a possibility that it's fabricated. I feel that the details are too fine to simply have all been constructed, and the fact that it glitches through to jump from one timestamp to another is suspicious. It could be as complex as using our own memories against us. The places and people we remember, to reconstruct a scene and then alter it to a point. We shouldn't necessarily discount that.

Mm. I thought something like that, too, especially if this is a simulation like you said it could be. They would need to...scan our brains, somehow, if this is a virtual space. Right?

[She asks because she doesn't really understand the finer details of the technological angle. It's good to have someone like Kaiba, who can confirm or correct her instincts.]

There are other suspicious things, too. Saber...can't exist in the world without me there to anchor him to it. [Well, more or less.] Unless it isn't the same Saber, but instead a Saber from a closely related parallel world... Hm...

[She hums to herself, sounding more like she's talking out loud than to him at this point.]

Accessing memory may not be so difficult. [Or it is, but someone like Noa had a good many years to be able to do it.] This place is already more sophisticated than most everyone here is used to seeing. If they've the ability, truly, to bring various peoples in space and time to wherever we are being physically housed, then maybe they can manipulate our own memories in such a way.

[It's cold comfort, because--and this is a thought he dare not speak--what if he's wrong?]

You don't think that could be 'your' Saber because of the way the rules of your world work. And if it is an alternate Saber, a Saber in this world or somehow a different one...would it matter as much to you?

[At that question, Manaka looks up again. She blinks as if surprised, but there's no hesitation before her answer.]

Eh? Of course I would still care. Saber is Saber, even when he isn't "mine".

[Kaiba, she was fascinated by the alternate universe Rule 63 version, don't underestimate her obsession.]

But that isn't the point, is it? Even if it's another Saber, or even if it's a fabrication, it's an insult that they would make such a threat at all.

But he would be a Saber belonging to another you. Or even another person.

...You're right, however, that it's an insult. To make that kind of threat to any of us. It's an incredible step up from last week, at least.
immaculacies: (lost worlds and endless nights)

That's fine. It's Saber, so... Even if he doesn't return these feelings, I would protect him, no matter what.

[The tone of her voice had dropped to something gentle and almost delicate, but... Aha. "A step up." Suddenly, the smile on her face broadens, in a way that might not be entirely reassuring.]

Mm-hm. It is. Do you think Petuu-san [somehow, the honorific sounds sarcastic here] was offended that no one accepted her generous offer for a vacation?

No. To be honest, I think she was bored last time. She was far more interested in her phone for the most part, after all. I think this time, she's more invested, and not simply because of what happened. They're probably getting instructions from someone even higher up than themselves, which is troubling but not surprising.
