[The Champions have now been here for one week, and while the dud of a first incentive didn't tempt anybody, the fact remains obvious: a lack of murder isn't going to be the thing that gets you out of here.

Blaze Dudely and Rox have not made a reappearance since Tuesday, leaving you to your own devices for the moment. That door they entered and exited through remains locked, and there is no new area to access this week. Are you sure they're even still back there? Despite their absence, you all wake up on Sunday morning from strange dreams. What to make of it?

I got it and a buncha other junk today. S'way better then the suits they stuck us in. The suit made fixing up my stitches a real pain in the ass whenever it wasn't my hands, feet, or head that needed fixing.

[Zombina gestures to the... newer stitches around her torso.]

It's waaaay easier ta make field repairs like this. Sure, it's kinda skimpy, but it's way more practical for me.

I......see. [way too much of her] I suppose that would be more practical.

[Mmm okay let's ignore it for now because this is awkward and that's skimpy and he does not know what to do with this but ignore it.] As for your question, yes. Brainstorming. I keep thinking that many of the rules are ill-defined and broad enough in interpretation that we could use it to our advantage, but if the Overseers can change or define the rules as they see fit...

Looking for natural loopholes, basically.

Aaaah. Yeah, I've brought that up ta Kurusu-kun too. Specially the one 'bout messin' with these things.

I defaced a dictionary during the weekend into a Space Dictionary or as I prefer ta call it, a Spictionary.

[Zombina laughs as she says that.]

Aaaanyway, I went inside and added space ta all the words. Ya know how rule 5 say ya can't deactivate or tamper with your own or another Champion's P.I.P.? While deavtivate is a solid word we can't twist, tamper is... vaguer.

[Zombina takes on a smugly proud tone as she recites the definition of tamper.]

Tamper is ta Interfere with something in order to cause damage or make unauthorized alterations. So while we can't damage it or change anything about it, I think that as long as we don't damage or change anything, we might be able ta just open it up ta take a look inside.

[Zombina frowns though.]

We'd probably only get one shot at that and any other rules we exploit before they change 'em. So we gotta be smart about when and how we use any loopholes.

I tried opening mine up the first day. It didn't go well. Their definition of 'tamper' seems to be a bit stricter, but maybe they think opening the face of it is to damage or deface it. Especially if one who doesn't know what they're doing decides to play around with the inside. I imagine there's also a concern about spying on their tech and stealing ideas.

But we could try it on you. You said you don't feel pain. So we could make an attempt with yours. Just...look. There really should not be anything wrong with looking if we don't touch anything.

I still wonder about rule seven. We don't know what it means to 'escape detection from your peers'. What are the parameters in place? If these things on our arms monitor our health, is there a way to make it seem like someone has been murdered, and the rest of us play willful ignorance? There's no definition to some of these rules.

Yeah. I remember that.

[Ahhh... their first interaction. Time sure does fly.]

Yeah. I'm honestly the best person ta try that on, along with any shakier loopholes. I'm pretty damn hard ta kill.

[Only complete destruction of the head would probably do the job.]

I could probably just outright give ya my arm ta work on, but it'd be pretty suspicious for me ta be walkin' around without it. So maybe we could just meet up in one of the showers? They ain't got any cameras in there, so they'd be the best places ta try and pull this off.

[Zombina hums in thought.]

Yeah, the lack of parameters on some of these things is kinda concernin'. Though with these P.I.P.s on our arms, it'd be pretty hard ta fake an death. For most of us. It'd probably be easier for me, since, y'know. Undead, detachable everything, no pain. I'm not sure if faking a murder would get us anywhere though.

There has to be a way. There has to be something. Am I just too distracted and disoriented to see it? [That's more to himself than Zombina, as he taps one of the whiteboard markers against his chin.]

Faked death would at least get someone on the other side of those doors, presumably. It would just have the be convincing and temporary....

Do you believe in no-win scenarios?

Logically yeah, yeah I do. But like...

[Zombina frowns and taps her fingers on the table as she tries to figure out how to phrase it.]

I prefer ta believe that if there ain't a way ta win, then ya gotta make one. The situation we're in... I think that if we follow the rules and keep our heads down, that it'll only lead nowhere. We gotta throw as many monkey wrenches into their plan as possible, so that the chaos'll cause an opening ta open up.

[So... basically that if they play along, it'll be stuck as a no-win situation.]

Well... there might be a way. But it'd be risky 'cause I'm not sure if they've tampered with the virus. There ain't no way ta safely test it either, since if it doesn't work than you'll be dead instead of an zombie.

[You may be recalling the opt out sheet she put up a while ago.]

[He does recall, and if he's honest, he's surprised people even signed up for it.] Maybe you'll get the chance to test it. For the record, I don't want it.

Though I do wonder if it follows the rules or breaks them in a chaotic fashion. Hm.

I mean, hopefully not.
