Week 2

[The Champions have now been here for one week, and while the dud of a first incentive didn't tempt anybody, the fact remains obvious: a lack of murder isn't going to be the thing that gets you out of here.

Blaze Dudely and Rox have not made a reappearance since Tuesday, leaving you to your own devices for the moment. That door they entered and exited through remains locked, and there is no new area to access this week. Are you sure they're even still back there? Despite their absence, you all wake up on Sunday morning from strange dreams. What to make of it?

You can only hope it's not a bad omen for the rest of the week.]

[His heart is pounding in his ears, and his breathing comes out short and choppy. For maybe a few seconds, he might look like he's succumbing to panic, but there's a few deep breaths coming from him. In and out. In and out. In and out, and then he looks almost back to normal again, albeit paler than usual.

...They were serious, weren't they.

So he takes a step over to a table, picks up a stray utensil and turns to where Blaze and Rox are standing. Perhaps it would be pointless, and maybe it would only end horribly but that's not on his mind right now as he strides over to them, footfalls quickening as he moves closer and closer. From the glint of the knife in his hand, his intent's probably clear.

Someone should probably stop him.]

[ GOD DAMMIT NOT YOU TOO.

Yuri is gonna try and tackle him on the ground?! ]

Don't you fucking dare, Slaine!!

[Bless Yuri. Slaine's too focused on Rox and Blaze, so he's caught off-guard and he hits the ground. Surprise flickers on his face as he looks back at Yuri, but it disappears quickly.]

Yuri. ...Please get off of me.

[There's an undercurrent of... something in his voice, but it's quite firm.]

Fuck no! You're gonna do something stupid if I do--you're gonna die if I don't!

[ he's not moving. slaine could probably push him off, but... ]

[While it may be possible, Slaine doesn't make a move to shove Yuri or anything. He doesn't want to hurt any of the other Champions here, not when they don't deserve it.]

As long as I can keep Her Highness safe, I don't mind any consequence... be it death, or worse.

You're not gonna keep her safe like this, dumbass! You're just gonna get yourself killed!

he can't think about that now. he can't afford to. ]

[He clenches his jaw. It might be pointless, but to have to sit here and not do anything about the people that threaten Her Highness and everyone else here... it goes against his nature.]

We... we don't have very many options. [But he doesn't sound as firm as before, so there's that.]

Not right now, we don't. But you won't find out if we have more if you die here, you understand?

[ he's seething now--slaine, don't you even try. and yuri is not going to move off of him until he's calmed down. ]

[He opens his mouth to protest, but nothing comes out. He knows what Yuri is saying is right and it's something that came up before in the meeting: having patience, and finding a chance. So with that, Slaine relaxes and just... lets himself flop resignedly on the floor.]

...I understand. I understand, so, um... could you please get off?

[quadjumps]

[ ...fine. yuri will get off and dust his pants off, a headache coming on from all this stress and the impact from the tackle.

he's about to say something more, but then everything about chloe starts happening. ]

[For a second, it seems everything is... well, not good or even fine, but he's settled. Slaine's still sorting his thoughts out when he stands back up but when the gunshot rings out, he instinctively ducks and makes an attempt at dragging Yuri down.

But when his eyes land on Chloe's body, his arm just goes limp.]

No...

[stillstands]

[Roughly as soon as Yuri makes a try to tackle Slaine, Miki's absolutely going to try and go for the hand with the knife.]

Slaine-san, no-- you're can't--!!

[She be small but she be scrappy.]

[He's down! And while the knife hasn't entirely left his hand, his grip has loosened and it's not difficult to wrench it free.]

Miss Miki, please give that back.

[He needs it to stab someone?]

[stillstands]

[She is absolutely wrenching it free, goddammit Slaine.]

No. You can't just-- you can't just throw your life away like that.

[Not for them, it's not worth it.]

It-- That doesn't matter. I can't let them touch Her Highness.

[stillstands]

You can't stop them if you do something stupid here and now!

[He knows she's right. He heard it when they shot Chloe. They had a gun, so what was a dinky butter knife going to do against that?]

But if we don't stop them now, then--

[Someone will probably die. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but. This is a motive that people wouldn't be able to let go of.]

[stillstands]

-- then we won't be stopping them at all.

[As long as you're alive, you can do something. You can change things. Good things can happen.

We... we don't know that for sure.

[It's a weak protest and he knows it, but it doesn't feel right just letting them go like this. Not with so much at stake.]

[stillstands]

[She's absolutely trying to pull the knife out of his hands entirely now.]

It's not worth the risk. What happens if you're reckless now and they still hurt your friend and you aren't there to help her??

[batfortheprincess]

[That question seems to get to him and he just looks down resignedly at the floor as he all but lets go of the knife. Confiscation successful, good job Miki!]

...I'm sorry.

[stillstands]

[Knife: secured!

Miki lets out a sigh of relief, and immediately holds it so that it'd be difficult for him to make a grab for it if he changes his mind.]

It's... it's okay, I get it but. [She squeezes her eyes shut.] There has to be another way to save them, without killing someone--without losing more people.

[batfortheprincess]

[He just nods silently.]

Right. We... we can find something, if we work together.

[They're not alone in all this... there's people here to support him here. That's what he has to keep telling himself.]

Um... thank you, Miss Miki.

[stillstands]

... You're welcome.

[Hang on she's just gonna. Flat out put the knife away.]

It... might not be a good idea to hang around here today. [... What with the corpse and all.]
