[Four people dead now - six, if you include the crew. Things have been a little rough on the Starfield Penitentiary this week. Blaze Dudely doesn't make a public reappearance during the weekend, so you've got a few days to yourselves to recover, though he's probably still sticking to his office hours if you really feel like going to see him. On Sunday morning, you may find that you're recovering a a few other things as well - both strange dreams and some new items.

In addition, there's a new set of doors at the end of the corridor, by that empty space where you'd been having your fight club. Looks like you've got a new wing to explore.]

Nothing really drastic.

I'd joined some friends on some kind of quest to search for new airbenders. It...wouldn't really make sense out of context, but I can tell you that there were only five of them who were around before...whatever this was about.

So... they could do with air what you do with fire? Right?

Are people not just born with these abilities at random? Or is it an inherited trait?

Yeah, basically.

I don't think anyone's ever really figured it out completely, but I think inheritance is part of it. I got my firebending from my mother; my brother got earthbending from our father.

[ and they gone, so. ]

So if there aren't people around to encourage the line, it would die out. [Yikes.] Makes sense, why it would be so important to chase down these air people.

Yeah, but the thing is? Only those five people I mentioned are airbenders. It's impossible for there to be any more of them. Which is why...I have my doubts on whether or not that was a memory.

Did you see the airbenders in person? Or hear about them? [Varric stroked his chin thoughtfully.]

You think it might be a trap of some sort? [It's always a trap, right?]

No. I haven't. Might just be another gap in my memory, but...

[ it was really happening, according to Korra. Was it really...real? ]

I hope not. We seemed real set on going on that expedition. Plus...where we were heading? Some of my father's family members my brother and I never met lived there. Guess that was part of the reason I agreed to it.

Whatever it is, whatever you don't remember... I'm sure -- no, I promise, it'll make sense soon enough.

[The dwarf extended his hand, squeezing the man's lower arm in what he hoped would come off as a gesture of comfort.]

And I hope you get to meet some of your family, too.

[ he's a little surprised at the gesture, but doesn't move away. ]

[ he looks a little troubled by something, but he brushes it off pretty quickly. ]

So...your dream. Did it make sense to you?

Probably a bit too much, really.

[Bartrand had never been the most honest of people. Sure, Varric hadn't expected his brother to leave him for dead, but hell, it wasn't too out of the question.]

Family trouble. If nothing else, the dream showed me that I won't have to deal with it any more.

I...take it that's a good thing?

[ just a shot in the dark here. he's trying not to offend but then again when has mako ever been good at not offending anyone ]

[Translation: nope. Not good at all.]

I won't lie to you. There was a part of me that wanted to. The bastard left me for dead. But the man I found there...

It's like it wasn't him. Something -- this idol -- had corrupted him. I didn't have an option.

[At least, that was what he kept telling himself. But maybe if he had argued with Hawke, he could have gotten Bartrand somewhere that could have helped him.]

But he was still your brother, and that's what makes it hard.

Really wish I could say it was just a dream.

Really wish I could believe you if you did say it.

[Optimist though he might be, it was hard to stay positive about something like this. Not when it felt so real.]

I just hope the next dream I have involves a heaping pile of gold and a good nights rest.

[ mako is no pessimist, but there's still a part of him that believes that these really are just strange dreams. is there any way to prove that they're not? 100%? probably not at this moment, but... ]

That'd be too generous of them.
