[With the sudden pirate takeover and the sudden, tragic deaths of the crew, the second week of the Starfield Penitentiary rehabilitation project is off to a rough start. After Price's call for parlay with the pirate captain, he was not seen for the remainder of Saturday but around 10 pm it is his calm but tense voice that makes the time announcement.

Buckle in, Champions, things are about to get bumpy.]

[After fight club, Soma goes back to his cell to shower and change. Then he's back to exploring for lack of anything better to do with all his restless energy. He's seen Mako around, especially at the meeting when he hung back and just watched everyone, but this time he approaches the other man.]

Have you noticed anything unusual yet?

[ anything unusual? certainly. mako points to the ceiling at one of the security cameras nearby, looking straight into it. ]

Those are cameras, right? The ones that The Counselor's been using to watch us?

[Soma looks up into the camera too, resisting the urge to flip the bird in case Blaze is watching. That bastard killed his friends and Soma would like to punch his cyber-eye out the back of his head.]

Yeah. I've seen them almost everywhere except the bathrooms, I think. At least we get privacy there. Surveillance like that is pretty standard in prison.

Except the bathroom...

So that'd be their one blind spot?

So far that I've found. I wouldn't be surprised if they had listening devices in there, though. Pervertido....

...Yeaaah, that'd be pretty awkward. But possible.

It's hard to really strategize when they're watching us at all times. And there's no way anyone's gonna wanna meet in the bathroom, of all places.

I think it'd be too suspicious if we all crammed in there at once. Maybe we can use a variation of the telephone game....

[It's not the most efficient way to pass information and plot rebellion, but it's better than risking being caught.]

It's a game where one person thinks of a message or phrase, and they whisper it to another person. Then that person whispers it to someone else, and so on. Usually by the time you get to the last person, you have a funny distortion to the original message. But in this case we'd be going for accuracy, of course.

...Wouldn't just passing a note around be easier than that?

[ he gets it but gosh, lost in translation ]

Yeah, that's why I suggested a variation. But the only problem is making sure nothing concrete can fall into the wrong hands. If it's all spoken, there's no hard evidence to get us in trouble.

[chides]

That's true. But if it's something important, I wouldn't wanna relay the wrong message, either. Plus with my bending I can burn any paper evidence that may be left behind.

[He mentioned burning things, so....]

So you're a pyromancer, then? I had a power like that, but all of my abilities seem to be inactive so far.

Oh. Right. Uh, I guess you guys would call it magic? Bending's kind of the same thing.

[ or, well, they have their differences but he's just trying to make it easier to understand. ]

You too? I can still do basic things but I definitely can't bend like I used to--yeah, they definitely tampered with our abilities.

I'm not exactly going around advertising it, but yeah, I have some different powers and a few of them are fire-related. But even my non-combat powers aren't working, which is frustrating.

[He looks at the PIP grafted into his left arm.]

It's gotta be these things. Price said they were just monitors for vitals, but we know that's a bunch of crap.

I'm with you on that one. Not like we can rip these out of our arms, though; maybe we can find a way to disable them?

Though...I'm not exactly the best person to ask about that one.

Even disabling them is risky. I imagine there's some kind of security program to alert Price and Dudely if we start tampering, and I bet we'd end up with some serious punishment for it. I wouldn't know where to begin anyway, I'm no scientist.
