Week 1

[With the introduction to the relationship experiment and their overseeing hosts done with, the Champions are left to their own devices to explore the first floor of the mansion as they please. Cece and Kip will pop-up every once in a while to chit-chat but for the most part they're somewhere inaccessible.

Each morning the Champions are awakened promptly at 7 am by PAL's even, almost laid back voice announcing the time and each evening at 10 pm to announce when the kitchen is closing for the night. Unlike the Overseers, he doesn't seem to be one much for conversation.

[Her hands hover near his head like she want's to do something but she can't because she doesn't have her wand and she's not about to attempt something like that wandless. In the end she settles for stroking his hair, trying to be soothing.]

Oh you poor thing. I-

[Wait... a fight?] Tani! [Whispered angrily and she shakes her head hard enough to send her, increasingly frizzy, curls flying.] Oh that idiot

Why on earth did you...?

[ At first he almost flinches away from the contact... but, he's pretty sure Queenie wouldn't hurt him. So, it's fine. ]

Yeah, how'd you-- Uhhh, I mean, I... He kept-- [ Everything sounds kinda dumb in his head, and he's not even sure why he keeps doing these things. ] I wanted to prove I'm not all talk. [ A pause. ] Because I'm not.

[The fact that his instinctive response is to flinch grounds her somehow, making her a little more careful with her motions. She's seen it for years with soldiers coming home. From their earlier conversations, though, she hadn't expected it from him.

It does encourage her to continue, however, just slowly letting her fingers glide through his hair.]

Rising to bait from silly boys like him is not going to get you anywhere.

[Horned Serpents shouldn't rise to fights with dumb Wampus boys.]

[ To be fair, it's not so much, you know... from a war as it is coming from a place like Hyperion. But, anyway, that feels... really nice, and QUeenie's mere presence is comforting. ]

Heh, yeah, that was... that was stupid. [ He groans a little. ] I'm pre-tty sure that's not gonna happen again.

[ Pain is absolutely the worst thing ever. ]

[That groan earns him a gentle little fluff to his hair and a kiss on his temple. Then she's stepping back and nodding towards the table, finally taking her seat across from him.]

Well at least you can have some comfort food to make your day a little better?

[Hopefully the food helps. If he can taste okay.]

Sorry I can't help more, sweetie. Even if I had my wand I've never been much good at healing charms.

[ The kiss makes his cheeks feel a little warmer. Oh. Rhys lets out a sheepish chuckle and offers Queenie a grin. ]

Haha, yeah... Annnnd if it's as delicious as it smells, my day's gonna have a great end.

[ He shakes his head. Healing... Is she kind of like Ardyn, then? ]

Soooo, what's up with that anyway? You can make stuff move without touching it, you can heal, you've got a wand...

Every witch has a wand. [Isn't that obvious? She feels like that should be obvious.]

Like I said though, I'm not all that great at healing charms. I could keep the swelling down but beyond that... [She just kind of shrugs sheepishly before picking up her knife to cut into the chicken which kind of peels apart effortlessly, nice and moist and she beams, pleased with herself. Yes, excellent~]

Hey, it's fine. I'll... take care of it. Shouldn't be too hard.

[ Who is he kidding, he has no idea where to start. Anyway, he's eager to get the conversation away from his bad decisions, so he cuts into his chicken, too and takes a bite. Once he's chewed and swallowed, he gives Queenie a grin. ]

Wow. Haha, you could put even the cooks at Hyperion to shame.

[Surely he knows what he's talking about? She has no idea where to begin with no-maj ways of healing things like that. They have t be able to do something about it though so she'll accept that reassurance.

The compliment to her cooking skills is reassuring. At least future food isn't different enough for her cooking to be anything but spectacular.]

Aww, well thanks honey. I do my best. [And she savors a bit of her chicken too before tipping her head to the side, leaning her chin on her hand.]
