week 1
[With the introduction to the relationship experiment and their overseeing hosts done with, the Champions are left to their own devices to explore the first floor of the mansion as they please. Cece and Kip will pop-up every once in a while to chit-chat but for the most part they're somewhere inaccessible.
Each morning the Champions are awakened promptly at 7 am by PAL's even, almost laid back voice announcing the time and each evening at 10 pm to announce when the kitchen is closing for the night. Unlike the Overseers, he doesn't seem to be one much for conversation.
Enjoy your week, Champions.]
[ooc: welcome to week 1, everyone! This first week is a peace week which means there will be no murder this weekend! Feel free to start submitting threads for the benefactors]

[He's not really afraid of dying. After the first couple times you sorta get used to the idea. He just doesn't want to lose the body.]
I'm sure it's a bunch of expensive shit they don't want to replace. I'm not gonna say it's dumb to be afraid of unlucky rule number seven, because it's not. It's good to be suspicious and be prepared. But also, I dunno...if we all know about the rule, don't you think we'd all avoid it? Even the producers? Not sure what legal recourse we have as people from other dimensions, though. Damn.

[SIGH.]
Never mind. My point is that there is sure to be a time, place, and method to challenge their authority, but I do not think outright going around smashing things is the ideal option right now.

I wouldn't be smashing anything! I'd be trying to use sophisticated technology, and if something accidentally goes awry, well then, they shouldn't make it able for me to access it.
Even if I'm deliberately looking for it.

[child he can eyeroll with the best of them]
Your odds of survival are not ideal, with that attitude. To answer your previous question, yes, I am worried about you.

Okay, if we find some hidden control panel, I won't fuck with it. I might touch it, just a little, but I won't do anything if I'm not 90% sure of what I'm doing.
Find your ring yet, by the way? I wonder if you just...don't have it. Like it's not here. Maybe all our stuff's back home.

[little of column a, little of column b]
...I truthfully don't know if that is more or less comforting. If it is back in Lucis, then there's at least the chance it could find its way to my brother. However, if it does he'll almost certainly think I'm dead. That presents a very long list of other problems.

[but hey, let's just. focus on checking the walls. that's a good distraction.]

Is this a thing only you can do? Would someone else get chosen if you bit the dust or something? Would it skip a couple generations and pick one of your brother's descendants?

[Ardyn turned to the wall rather than look back over at Church; though he was concentrating on looking for any imperfection, the concern in his voice was obvious.]
If I can bring this to an end in my own lifetime, I have to. If the world is forced to wait another generation, or two, or three...countless people will die without someone to cure the infection. That is simply something I can not stand by and allow to happen.

Much as it bothers me to be away from home for that long, my brother and retainer can keep Eos from falling apart until I get back. Right now my priority is getting the rest of you out of here before things get any worse.
