Week 1

[With the introduction to the relationship experiment and their overseeing hosts done with, the Champions are left to their own devices to explore the first floor of the mansion as they please. Cece and Kip will pop-up every once in a while to chit-chat but for the most part they're somewhere inaccessible.

Each morning the Champions are awakened promptly at 7 am by PAL's even, almost laid back voice announcing the time and each evening at 10 pm to announce when the kitchen is closing for the night. Unlike the Overseers, he doesn't seem to be one much for conversation.

[ Of course Yuuri's in the garden -- you don't put one of those on the same floor as the Champion Green Thumb and expect to see her too far from it. And besides, it's not like there's a whole lot else to occupy her time here. She's been spending some time in the garden every day but it's a bit of a shock when she comes in to tend to the flowers again and sees there's a certain someone already here.

She comes to a sharp stop when she realizes who it is and for a long moment she has no idea what to say to him. She opens her mouth. Closes it again. Then, finally: ]

Wh... well, where have you been?!

[theoverseen]

Oh! Hello!!

[He waves excitably.]

I've been around. Thought I'd give you all a little chance to get settled into your rooms and everything!

[serrata]

[ So Yuuri knows that, apparently, the whole premise of this show is making them all bond, be bffs with their host, etc but she'd sort of forgotten that in the general busywork of making herself more at home here. But now he's here?? He's shirtless??? And he seems so pleased to see her????

She was so prepared to be furious next time she saw him but she's a bit too taken aback to start summoning up any Righteous Fury™ just yet. Give her time. ]

So... what, will you be staying with the rest of us from now on, now that we're 'settled'?

Well, technically I've been here the whole time. Ceec and I have rooms on another floor. But yeah, I think everyone's been real friendly!

[serrata]

[ Well no one's dead yet, so she sees what he means. ]

It's not like we have much of a choice while we're all in here together... if we don't get along, it'll make things unbearable.

[ They're not quite that bad now. The situation is far from ideal but it might just be livable.

But now Kip's here, she can ask a question she's been wondering. ]

So... what other floors are there here in the mansion?

[theoverseen]

There's four other floors, plus the garden house. Network's orders say not to open anything else up just yet.

[serrata]

[ She visibly perks up at that. Four more floors, huh... ]

Have they said when they're going to be opening things up? It's just... there's only so much to do down here on this floor. We don't even have anywhere to do our laundry or take a real bath.

Everyone's going a bit stir-crazy... so I was hoping we'd at least have some more rooms to use. Just so we wouldn't be stuck looking at these ones the whole time we were here.

[theoverseen]

I haven't heard anything about when, honestly. But I see what you mean. I'll have Ceec check in with the network and see what their plans are.

[serrata]

... Alright. [ and then, with a little nod of her head: ] Thank you.

[ She doesn't really want to be thanking him but he's their only real connection to "the network" and whoever brought them here. They need to get whatever they can from him when they can. ]

Do you know why they put these rooms down here on this floor? The garden and the rest room I can understand but... the tattoo parlor...?

[theoverseen]

For fun, maybe?

It would make more sense to put that on the same floor as the bar, but sometimes the Benefactors send their favorite Champions alcohol and that would be less obvious...

[ So there is a bar. She makes a mental note to pass this along to the handful of people she knows will be delighted to hear of its presence. ]

What sort of things do they send us? Just... little gifts like that?

[ probably not anything actually useful... ]

I've seen them send stuff like booze, snacks, blankets, pillows... 90 pounds of space lube...

[serrata]

[ RECORD NEEDLE SCRATCH ]

Excuse me, ninety pounds of what, exactly?

[ CLEARLY, SHE JUST MISHEARD AND HE DID NOT SAY EXACTLY WHAT SHE KNOWS HE SAID ]

[theoverseen]

Uh. Pillows?

[serrata]

[ ... okay. she'll take that. ]

... right then. It makes sense they'd want to make sure we're comfortable here.

[ time to just forget she ever heard the words 'space lube' ]

Do you talk to them yourself much? If you're hosting the show, I imagine you must all keep in close contact.

[theoverseen]

Me? No, but Ceec does. She's the network's intern, not my personal intern, so she answers to them.

[serrata]

[ ... so Cece works for the network and not for him. That's interesting.

She feels like prodding for more answers than she already has might get a bit obvious so instead she just gives him a faint smile. Some of this should be useful at least. ]

That probably frees up some of your time then -- time you can use for gardening?

[theoverseen]

[Well, Cece's under more supervision than he is.

...Probably a mistake tbh.]

And other things. I'm not really a gardener - I don't, uh, I let the sprinklers do the watering for me.

[serrata]

Oh! So this garden... it's not your work, then.

[ That makes more sense but she'd actually kind of thought that maybe he would've had a bit more input into the house he was going to be staying in. ]

Did the network design it?

[theoverseen]

It's based on what Earth looks like now after the great Boner Uprising of 6969, actually.
