week 1
[With the introduction to the relationship experiment and their overseeing hosts done with, the Champions are left to their own devices to explore the first floor of the mansion as they please. Cece and Kip will pop-up every once in a while to chit-chat but for the most part they're somewhere inaccessible.
Each morning the Champions are awakened promptly at 7 am by PAL's even, almost laid back voice announcing the time and each evening at 10 pm to announce when the kitchen is closing for the night. Unlike the Overseers, he doesn't seem to be one much for conversation.

I've lived on a space station for a while, and the place I had didn't really look like this, so, uh... I get what you mean. Kind of.

A space station... I'd say it's hard for me to imagine, but... well. [He just sort of gestures vaguely at where they are. They sure are in space.] Still, it must be an interesting experience, living on a space station.

It's pretty awesome, actually. Way cooler than living on an actual planet. I mean, I don't have the really swanky stuff that the guys higher up get, but, uh... I'm working on it. And I definitely know I'm gonna get there.

Hmm, it does sound like it would be interesting. An experience so unlike living on just a planet. Always among the stars like that... [He'd rather be on Earth, but that's for personal reasons.] Well, it is good you have a plan all figured out. A clear path for your ambition to travel on.
What exactly is your job, anyway? I know your profile lists you as a middle manager, but that could mean many different things, depending on the company.

I manage a bunch of guys who work in securities propaganda, basically. There's-- [ hacking ] --data mining involved.

Ah. I imagine the company must be doing very well, then, since there's always plenty of demand for those. It seems to be one of humanity's greatest interests.

[ He nods. Yeah, he's pretty proud to be part of a company that's so successful. They do good work. ]
Yeah--some of the places back home are pre-tty insane. Hyperion, making weapons... we make things be a little less insane.

In my experience, even when things aren't insane humans constantly make weapons. So I can't imagine how much more there must be in places that actually are so "insane".
Well, with a promotion in a company like that waiting for you, I certainly understand why you were so adamant about getting out of here quickly.

Yeah, there's a reason there are a ton of weapons manufacturers. And when the bandit threat's all taken care of... I don't really see them just stopping. For-- for a lot of reasons.
[ He grins. ]
Heh, yeah. And I don't really want that all getting messed up because some weirdo kidnapped me. I-I mean, uh... I'm pretty sure it won't just be given away to someone else randomly, but better to be careful, right? Heh heh...

I assume that being suddenly kidnapped and forced to participate in a reality show would be a pretty good excuse. It might be a problem if we're here for very long, but surely they'll understand, yes?
[He did notice how unsure Rhys sounded, actually. He's just... trying to be a little encouraging here.]
