Week 5

[It's been five weeks (since you looked at me) and with the deaths of Shadow and Rukia, the group that was initially 20 strong has dwindled down to ten. Ten people in the span of a month and, even with the Overseers seeming increase in empathy for the remaining Champions, there is no end in sight for the Champion Excellence Program.

And again at 7 am on Sunday the mechanical woman's voice chimes to awaken the remaining champions on Sunday morning. After the initial wake-up call there is no new floor announcement this week.

And again the Champions are awakened they have regained one new memory from the ones they've lost. Starting again on Sunday, as well, Jamie and Bolton will be back to their usual office hours in their usual locations.]

So those would take place in the autumn, and then wintertime for new year, right?

Yes, and summer. My birth Father... He was the priest of the local shrine, I used to help...

There's more than one type of shrine. This one was a proper one, a temple one.

[But she's lived in a western mansion on an island for the last 30 years, with a westaboo.]

Ooh. And you helped keep it up and all that?

I tried. Most of it was just keeping the floors clean.

That sounds interesting, though! I bet you've got a lot of stories about growing up there.

Not the type of stories you'll want to hear I'm sure. It was trying times for everyone then.

[Ah...so maybe not a very prosperous growing-up, then.]

But surely there were happy days, Miss Natsuhi...you can find them in even the darkest of times. We're managing here, after all.

I'm not sure when you think I was born. It was during the war... Hmm. My brothers and I had some silly arguments when we were little.

Oh? Um...which war?

[Her eyes widen a little bit.] Oh, golly, that one...no wonder times were, erm...difficult.

W-Well, at least...after the war, things must have gotten better in time. Right?

[Jane, you're going to be very sad to find out they didn't.]

Things were difficult till after I married. I think some areas are still recovering.

Gosh, now I feel terrible, I didn't mean to make you think of sad things. I really am sorry...

There's no need to apologize, it was a long time ago. And if it hadn't happened, then I wouldn't have my daughter.

Back in our first week, they tried to tell me that was something to regret.

[At least Crockercorp doesn't would never wouldn't have done that if Jane ran things.]

Wh...but that's terrible! You're worried about her even now, that's a horrible thing to tell a mother! Why, if someone tried to make my Dad think that having me was something to regret, he would've knocked them right out!

There's no need for me to worry about her now... [She's not going to focus on at the moment.]

I don't know what they were thinking. I still don't.

[...Hopefully that's because Natsuhi remembered that good things happened? We're going to hope very strongly on that front and not ask for specific details.]

I don't think any of us can rightly figure it out. Not even if we were still twenty strong.

Hopefully, we'll get answers soon. [She nods a the two Overseers.] I think it's getting to them as well.

[Jane glances over.] I think so, too. I mean - it can't not get to a person.

I don't know about that. There is a girl I remember, she'd love this place...[She winces, thinking of that unwelcomed guest.]

[A frown.] If anyone did like this place, that'd make them an awful lot like Seth, wouldn't it?

Not quite... She called herself a detective. I'm not inclined to believe her, but everyone else did...

[Deepening frown.] That sounds awfully stupid of them.
