Based on appearance, it seems Miss Tolly is a species called a Yeerk. They are deaf, blind and mute without a host body so they do not technically have a language of their own that is understandable to those outside their species.

Yeerka are a parasitic species that need an organic host body. They enter a host's brain through the ear canal and take control of the brain that way.

Also they must leave their hosts after three days to bathe in light from their homeworld.

To my knowledge, no. The numbing agent they secrete also makes the process painless to the host.
