Week 3

[Come week 3 of the Champion Excellence Program the high-flying feelings that came with the dodgeball game last week has dissipated, especially after the...everything that was that trial. Satan Mask sure was a thing that happened.

Just like last week, right on the dot at 7 am, the mechanical woman's voice chimes to awaken the remaining champions on Sunday morning. After the initial wake-up call though there's a new message tacked on:]

Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your second trial, you have unlocked the third floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the second floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.

[And again the Champions are awakened they have regained one new memory from the ones they've lost. Starting again on Sunday, as well, Jamie and Bolton will be back to their usual office hours in their usual locations.]

[Yeah, but there are also a hell of a lot of wrong circumstances where he looks like he'll kill you by punching right through your chest.]

There have always been rumors of "forest folk," but nothing with any detail. Not much is known about the lower strata.

[Well...that's fair. He probably could punch through a couple chests if need be.]

What, do they really just live in a forest, supposedly?

[People's chests? Treasure chests? Both, probably.]

Well, it isn't an ordinary forest. But yes.

Hidden technology? Or is there magic involved? [He pegs her world to be more technological, but apparently who fucking knows.]

[voltrounds]

Technology. Although it isn't really hidden, so much as it's not there anymore, just its effects.

[She tries making the creepy hologram girl smile. There, she looks a little friendlier now. Except not really.]

[...No, no that makes it worse. Now creepy clown hologirl looks like she might stab someone.] I can't imagine something like that. Earth has jungles, certainly, and while some strive to add their artificial touches, it's still rather wild.

[I can't believe she's the next murderer. Maybe closing her eyes so she can't stare like that will help?]

It's definitely wild, but it was originally artificially created.

[Now that is better.]

An artificial jungle... That's amazing. We haven't gotten to a point of doing anything like that in my world, but if we can replicate living organisms, I don't feel like it'd be a big leap...

[voltrounds]

[There, see, she just has to not be looking at you like she hates you with every fiber of her being.]

We didn't really have anything like that either, until then. You know how they say necessity is the mother of invention?

I've heard the phrase. [That phrase is probably a reason he even exists, yay?] Was the planet dying? Hm, what did the Professor call it...global warming?

[voltrounds]

Global warming, pollution, depletion of natural resources... not to mention the destruction from wars. We essentially needed to completely reconstruct the environment.

[damnfourthemerald]

[He shakes his head.] Why does humanity persist [he's so tempted to stop right at that] in its destructive behaviors until it's too late? Did it even work, the reconstruction?

[voltrounds]

It took a thousand years, but yes, eventually it was a complete success.

[damnfourthemerald]

...Good. People spend too much time making machines of destruction. [He motions around them.] Space stations with eclipse cannons. Robotic empires. Sometimes it can be hard to remember that there are those who can change the world for the better. Even after a thousand years.

[voltrounds]

I... yeah.

[Machines of destruction, you say...]

[Hm. Maybe he's going a little hard on this. But you don't spell hedgehog without EDGE!!!]

May I? [He'll at least be patient enough to wait for permission to do some holographic dickery instead of just doing it.]

[See, that subject miiiiiiiight be a liiiiiiiittle more relevant to her (and to her original reason for being in here) than she lets on.]

[Cool cool he'll boot up something he was working on before--hey speaking of robots! This sure is one. Not near so detailed, but the basic shapes and colors are right.]

Here's someone I recently remembered.

Oh! He looks [intimidating? imposing? evil?] tough.

[A little of each column, honestly.] Enough firepower to make a mess out of laboratory room, that's for certain. [Or...whatever sort of odd storage-y room he'd been in??] He's angry at his creator, I know that much.

[voltrounds]

Does he have a reason for it?

[Because wow, Ricky sure hopes she never has to deal with the AI she knows taking issue with her over something and turning violent! That would just be awful!]

He was locked away mostly alone in a room, abandoned. I'm not sure why, yet. Perhaps even his angry and violent creator found him too angry and violent. He's out for revenge, now. More manageable with some end game to focus on.

...I can understand that, I guess. I wouldn't want to be locked away alone, either.

[Although she'd like to think she wouldn't think angry violence was the solution.]

[There's another possibility that Omega hadn't mentioned. One he doesn't know how to feel about.]

He might have been there to guard me. We came to at about the same time. [Well, Omega came first, probably because Rouge tripped an internal motion sensor in him, but that just...makes it a little worse, actually.] But that's just speculation. All I really know is that he's angry at his creator, and it took a third member of our soon-to-be team to calm the situation down.
