Week 3

[Come week 3 of the Champion Excellence Program the high-flying feelings that came with the dodgeball game last week has dissipated, especially after the...everything that was that trial. Satan Mask sure was a thing that happened.

Just like last week, right on the dot at 7 am, the mechanical woman's voice chimes to awaken the remaining champions on Sunday morning. After the initial wake-up call though there's a new message tacked on:]

Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your second trial, you have unlocked the third floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the second floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.

[And again the Champions are awakened they have regained one new memory from the ones they've lost. Starting again on Sunday, as well, Jamie and Bolton will be back to their usual office hours in their usual locations.]

Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday

[ooc: welcome to week 3, everyone! Check-in has begun and don't forget to submit your memory regains!]

Let me guess, they're easily manipulated and prone to senseless squabbles even without someone stirring the pot, and offer nothing to the world at large while making claims of great importance. Am I correct?

So easily manipulated that I could have done it in my sleep. The war would have happened no matter what. What wasn't a guarantee was another Divine Knight awakening and growing enough to be a fair match for ours. That was what we needed.
misplacedxsheath: (Who thought that was a good idea?)

They sound no different from the Federation. Foolish and prone to infighting, perhaps, but useful as tools for the more intelligent. I suppose some things are the same no matter where you look.

I'd imagine the only difference is the amount of territory they have. I noticed the larger the territory, the more worthless its lord is.

I wouldn't be surprised. The Galaxy Federation controls the vast majority of the settled universe, and many of its colonies have been so neglected as to become prime recruiting grounds for U-TIC.

Of course, that madman Sergius was just about as worthless as anyone in the Federation, but senility can quite thoroughly counter a smaller field of management.

It makes me glad the society prefers to give its highest ranks to those who deserve it. It's so much better to earn what you have.
misplacedxsheath: (Who thought that was a good idea?)

Perhaps he did earn it, once. The position of the Patriarch of Ormus has many factors. But he was old and succumbed to the madness of greed. He became as bad as anyone on the Federation Council, and sought to use our holy relics as weapons of conquest.

Now I'd just laugh if you tell me he got turned into a pillar of salt. Sometimes how similar our worlds are besides the technology levels is just weird.
misplacedxsheath: (I can afford to be smug.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-03-01 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hah, I'll laugh if it turns out he fell prey to the Gnosis, after turning what was meant to be a weapon against them into a tool of conquest. But no, his death is during the gap in my memory, all I can tell you is our plans for removing him.

Oh that's right, I don't think I did tell you of the North Ambrian Disaster. The one I speak of was from there. Years ago a giant pillar of salt fell from the sky and turned much of the land and its people into salt, and even now they still haven't recovered from that. Many of their people have turned to mercenary work and some have been hired to aid the Noble Alliance. A piece of that was used by the Church to turn this asshole into salt. Like with the one you spoke of, his greed and thirst for power was a problem.

Hmm...it reminds me of the tale of Lot's Wife and the fate of Sodom in the Biblical stories from the era of the Messiah. Of course, that was meant as punishment for the cruelty and debauchery of the citizens of the city, rather than being any sort of mere disaster.

This was definitely a special sort of hate. Ouroboros and the Church disagree on many things, one primary one being that our goals are very much against the Church's teachings.
misplacedxsheath: (Hmmm...I'll consider it.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-03-03 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever heard what the goal of your organization is.

[He doesn't sound judgmental, more curious.]

[personal profile] almightyconflagration 2017-03-03 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Actually similar to one of the things you have done. There are seven gifts of the goddess Aidios that were sealed away around the time of the Great Collapse. Ouroboros' goal is to unseal and activate them all again.
misplacedxsheath: (Hmmm...I'll consider it.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-03-03 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
And I presume the church in question has their own opinions on this goddess' gifts?
almightyconflagration: (015)

[personal profile] almightyconflagration 2017-03-03 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
That they should remain sealed away forever. They will even seize artifacts, which are not as powerful. They feel that humans cannot be trusted with such temptations.

That is why Ouroboros tends to recruit those with darker pasts and clouded morality. It takes a unique sort to be willing to make an enemy of the Church and live within the shadows.
misplacedxsheath: (Am I supposed to be impressed?)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-03-03 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
To conceal gifts bequeathed by a goddess...the arrogance astounds. At least Ormus collected the Relics of God with the intent that they be used for the sake of humanity as a whole.

[personal profile] almightyconflagration 2017-03-03 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
That is a feeling some do share. Others like myself are more interested in the events leading up to our goals. I'm in it for the chance to battle our strongest opposition.
misplacedxsheath: (Hmmm...I'll consider it.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-03-03 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Hmph, I almost envy you. The position of Commander far too often keeps me away from the field of battle. While the enemy's URTV may have made a vaguely interesting opponent, my job was merely to clean up the mess that resulted from his interfering in our plans.
