Week 3

[Come week 3 of the Champion Excellence Program the high-flying feelings that came with the dodgeball game last week has dissipated, especially after the...everything that was that trial. Satan Mask sure was a thing that happened.

Just like last week, right on the dot at 7 am, the mechanical woman's voice chimes to awaken the remaining champions on Sunday morning. After the initial wake-up call though there's a new message tacked on:]

Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your second trial, you have unlocked the third floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the second floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.

[And again the Champions are awakened they have regained one new memory from the ones they've lost. Starting again on Sunday, as well, Jamie and Bolton will be back to their usual office hours in their usual locations.]

I guess I can't talk. Things are complicated for everyone.

For now, we must...focus on what is ahead of us. Dwelling on anything else will only distract us from our goals here.

...right. Just like always. Focus now, and we can make it for a while.

We'll address what...other matters we may need to once we're certain of our escape.

You mean trouble back home?

Trouble...in a sense. Things have certainly changed, but as I said, I would rather not speak of what it is I've recalled.

Okay. Maybe it'll get better, though, once you remember something else.

I...have my doubts.

[In more ways than one.]

But either way, there's nothing that can be done about it from here, cut off from our comrades as we are.

I'm sorry. ...Uh, also, thank you for not asking for something ridiculous.

I live the life of a warrior, it would be foolish to expect any sort of ornate funerary rites when my death will most likely be on the field of battle.

A lot of Nergal employees don't feel that way. Although that's not really fair, they're not all supposed to be on the front lines.

Different people will have different attitudes toward the risks involved in military service. I don't expect most soldiers to share the opinion of someone who has dedicated his life to the way of the blade.

At least you know what's important to you...

A warrior uncertain of his priorities is a warrior doomed to defeat.

You sound like Lightning-san sometimes, you know.

It's not entirely surprising. There's certain mindsets that a lifetime of battle will cultivate in a person.

You're both really serious, but I'm glad you're here with the rest of us.

Heh, if you think I'm serious, I can only imagine what your opinion of Pellegri would be.

Is that one of your coworkers?

She's my second in command, as well as a personal friend from before U-TIC. I've known her for two decades and I have yet to find more than the barest hint of humor in her.

Sounds a little like some military people I know.

You'll find a number like that. Military service has a certain effect on people...though I've known some who never lose their sense of levity.
