Week 3

[Come week 3 of the Champion Excellence Program the high-flying feelings that came with the dodgeball game last week has dissipated, especially after the...everything that was that trial. Satan Mask sure was a thing that happened.

Just like last week, right on the dot at 7 am, the mechanical woman's voice chimes to awaken the remaining champions on Sunday morning. After the initial wake-up call though there's a new message tacked on:]

Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your second trial, you have unlocked the third floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the second floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.

[And again the Champions are awakened they have regained one new memory from the ones they've lost. Starting again on Sunday, as well, Jamie and Bolton will be back to their usual office hours in their usual locations.]

Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday

[ooc: welcome to week 3, everyone! Check-in has begun and don't forget to submit your memory regains!]

Kitchen

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-02-28 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
[After making cakes all morning and doing her best to cheer up Kurumi after the meeting, no one would blame Jane for taking a nap in her room - no one except herself, that is, when she remembers how she left the kitchen that morning. It's not a total mess, but there are definitely bowls and cake pans soaking in the sink that she told herself she'd clean later, and the realization that she still hadn't done so jolted her awake.

So, sorry Margulis, but your first proper conversation with this girl starts with her bursting into the kitchen, hair a mess, mouth open as if to keep anybody from cleaning up her own mess - but it just hangs open when she sees someone actually using the kitchen for its intended purpose.]

...O-Oh. Um. Good evening, sir.
misplacedxsheath: (Hmmm...I'll consider it.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-02-28 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Fortunately, none of what he's needed is stuff she'd used. He glances up from chopping vegetables when she walks in and nods.]

Here to clean up from the cakes, I presume?

[The cakes he didn't really eat much of, sorry.]
cyan_maid: (NO NO NO)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-02-28 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's okay, even having a little counts as partaking in ~*friendship cake*~. Jane nods, a little pink in the face.]

Yes...sorry you had to work in a mess, I...fell asleep and forgot.

[Just going to cross over now and start scrubbing this stuff clean, making a concerted effort not to splash around so Margulis doesn't get soapy water all over his stuff.]
misplacedxsheath: (Hmmm...I'll consider it.)

It's a hazard of communal kitchens.

[He goes back to his chopping, and Jane might notice his movements with the knife are those of someone very familiar with sharp objects near his fingers.]

So long as it's out of the way before I have to clean up my mess, it shouldn't be an issue.

[Jane does notice, somewhat.]

Ah, yes, of course. I won't be long.

[She definitely washes dishes like...someone who knows how to wash a dish?]

...Do you...happen to cook often?
misplacedxsheath: (Who thought that was a good idea?)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-03-01 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Somewhat frequently. On a military ship, most of the food is cooked in bulk to suit general tastes. If a person wants something more suited to them personally, cooking for themselves is their only option.

[Into the pot go the peppers. They're a pretty hot variety, too.]

Curry is a popular dish among the former residents of Old Miltia, but I prefer it spicier than most.
cyan_maid: (Would you like to lick the whisk?)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-03-01 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah...that makes sense.

[She is watching with interest, though.] It certainly does smell very spicy - but also good. Were you able to find everything you needed?
misplacedxsheath: (Hmmm...I'll consider it.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-03-01 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Most of it. I'm unable to make my preferred recipe, but this will be close enough. My greatest disappointment is that they've failed to provide us with a source of rice.
cyan_maid: (Just doing some reading)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-03-01 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be kind of difficult to grow and maintain out here, I'd think. Don't you need large fields with a lot of water to grow rice?

[I mean they COULD just toss 'em a bag or two sometime but that'd be too easy.]
misplacedxsheath: (Hmmm...I'll consider it.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-03-01 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It would have fit easily enough under the category of compact and easily preserved food in the kitchen. One of the reasons it's such a staple of Immigrant Fleet cuisine is because it can be carried in bulk without fear of spoiling.
cyan_maid: (Give me all of the bacon and eggs you ha)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-03-02 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
That's true - but we unfortunately don't even get access to staples. Just a bunch of freeze dried stuff.

[A shrug, and a continued scrubbing of these pans. They're cleaning pretty well, considering that they've been soaking a while.]
misplacedxsheath: (Hmmm...I'll consider it.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-03-02 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
I suspect they were amusing themselves with a clichéd theme. If the contents of the library are any indication, whoever was responsible for stockings this station has a fondness for ancient, Lost Jerusalem ideas if space travel.

[The pot goes on the stove and he starts adding in dried herbs...as well as some salt stolen from the diner.]

[Might just have a couple spoons and measuring cups to clean, and then it's drying time.]

Lost Jerusalem...?
misplacedxsheath: (Who thought that was a good idea?)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-03-02 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
It's the name commonly used to refer to Earth in my time period. I'm still not accustomed to the people here using its ancient name.
cyan_maid: (Oooh lookie here)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-03-02 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh...that's...hm. That's definitely not a term I would've expected people to use.

[As someone who's pretty secular by assumption, religious stuff like that is fairly weird.]
misplacedxsheath: (Hmmm...I'll consider it.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-03-02 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose the idea would seem strange to someone from a time before the abandonment of the planet...
cyan_maid: Jane is neutral or unsure (Um...)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-03-03 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Might I ask why it was abandoned?
misplacedxsheath: (You've begun wearing on my nerves.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-03-04 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
A disaster brought about by mishandling of the Zohar, before anyone knew what it was truly capable of. If you ask the ignorant masses, they'll likely tell you it was destroyed, despite the reality that nobody knows its true final fate.
cyan_maid: (What am I looking at here)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-03-04 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
...Thank makes sense. If you're fleeing a disaster, you don't want to stick around to find out what happens next.

[This is the only thing she can grasp onto that sounds remotely real or possible.]
