Week 3

[Come week 3 of the Champion Excellence Program the high-flying feelings that came with the dodgeball game last week has dissipated, especially after the...everything that was that trial. Satan Mask sure was a thing that happened.

Just like last week, right on the dot at 7 am, the mechanical woman's voice chimes to awaken the remaining champions on Sunday morning. After the initial wake-up call though there's a new message tacked on:]

Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your second trial, you have unlocked the third floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the second floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.

[And again the Champions are awakened they have regained one new memory from the ones they've lost. Starting again on Sunday, as well, Jamie and Bolton will be back to their usual office hours in their usual locations.]

It's all very colorful. And noisy. Have you played any of these?

Not in here. They used to be very popular a long time ago, though, back on Earth. Even nowadays, games call back to the age when these places were everywhere.

[He has to give it a try, okay, he's just curious, that's all. He climbs gingerly onto one of the big fake plastic motorcycles and finds that it feels familiar for reasons he sure can't place.

He kinda really hates that feeling, because it implies more he doesn't know or remember. But he'll roll with it.]

Really? All over the place? I think I can see the appeal of it being a place to gather to blow off steam, but to have that kind of lasting impact is impressive.

I think people always need places to just have fun! Oh, a racing game?

It's a little bit of action and concentration. It's not as physical as a gym but can still be...useful, as well as fun. [Boy please just admit doing things For Fun is okay come on.]

Ah, yes, I believe it is. Would you like to race? [Okay, maybe that smirk means he knows a fractional bit about fun.]

Sure! It'll be a good way to get our minds off of... well, everything. Let's go!

[Yurika carefully climbs onto a plastic motorcycle and twists one handlebar to try and go through the pre-race settings. She's scanning all the options before picking a bike and controls.]

Have you tried all the courses yet?

[Shadow's less methodical about the options, settling for the defaults for the sake of not taking up more time.]

I haven't played this at all yet, so this is going to be interesting. But I'm a fair hand at racing. Why should games be all that different?

You know, that's true! Let's try... oh, how about this one?

[A winding city street track sounds fun enough! If hazardous, but this isn't real life anyway, so it's fine.]

[He revs the entirely fictional and wholly digital engine.]

You sure you know how to ride that thing? [shadow your feet don't even touch the floor unless you're leaned one way or another don't even start

Although speaking of start, 3 2 1 let's race! Please...nobody fall off...]

Oh, it can't be that hard!

[With that encouraging statement, Yurika revs the engine and starts to weave through the city traffic. She's trying not to hit anything, but still keeping an eye out for clear spots.]

[Shadow's gotta put a little more oomph in leaning the machine around, but in a way that just increases the enjoyment. More reckless than Yurika, but only in the sense that he takes risks rather than going for the sure thing. Which backfires sometimes. But it actually looks like he's having fun. Who knew that was actually possible ~~CAH aside~~?]

[Yurika takes a ramp and ends up over a bridge. She takes a look at Shadow's screen as they go along.]

Watch that wall!

I know what I'm do--hey, wait! You're not supposed to help me, this is a race! [That said, he does clip the wall, and only narrowly avoids wiping out on the supports under the bridge.]

Of course! But it's supposed to be a fun race, right? [She spots a semi's ramp and uses it to sail up over it.] Whoa, that worked!

[He sees that ramping and one ups by doing the action movie stunt of sliding under a truck. I'm sure there's some brake button or trigger to let you do that because Space Arcade.] I don't even see you anymore...where'd you get to? Are you eating my dust?

We'll just have to see! [Yurika weaves through traffic and keeps checking for him.]

[There's a hairpin turn that would never exist in an actual city, and--there!] How'd you get ahead of me? I'll catch you yet!

You're right, this is fun! [Going down into a tunnel now!]

[He's trying to gain some speed here--maybe he should've chosen a different bike.] Could use a fan for some wind in your hair, huh? You better watch your back!

Don't worry, I can handle this!

[...as she dodges into another side tunnel, though that might not be the fastest way.]

What--you found a secret path? [He'll keep in the main tunnel, though it's got more traffic going on in it.] Are you sure you haven't played this before?

Not at all! I just saw it to the side!

Well good luck getting to the finish line in time, because I can see it from here!

Whoa -- almost!

[Yurika emerges from the tunnel, Shadow and finish in sight. They're both approaching...]

[Random chance coinflip says.......]

Augh! [Yurika edges over the line, a bright WINNER! flashing on her screen.] If these bikes were real, I'd wipe the floor with you! I think yours had the better acceleration, and that's all that saved you in the end. [Sure, Vegetahog, you just tell yourself that.]

...Best two out of three?
