Week 3

[Come week 3 of the Champion Excellence Program the high-flying feelings that came with the dodgeball game last week has dissipated, especially after the...everything that was that trial. Satan Mask sure was a thing that happened.

Just like last week, right on the dot at 7 am, the mechanical woman's voice chimes to awaken the remaining champions on Sunday morning. After the initial wake-up call though there's a new message tacked on:]

Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your second trial, you have unlocked the third floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the second floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.

[And again the Champions are awakened they have regained one new memory from the ones they've lost. Starting again on Sunday, as well, Jamie and Bolton will be back to their usual office hours in their usual locations.]

[A little after the meeting is over, there's a gentle knock on the door.]

Kurumi? It's me, Jane - I made cake for the meeting, but you didn't show up. Can I come in?

[She has cake for you 'n stuff. Hope you like pumpkin.]

[She's just laying on the bed (sans sheets) staring up at the ceiling, Christine is lying next to her and... She's not wearing her jacket for once, so the bandages of her arm show slightly under her t-shirt.]

Huh? Yeah. Yeah, you can come in. I was tired today.

[...She's not getting up.]

[She'll come in, noting the...lack of sheets and jacket. There's a plate of cake in her hands. Dang, she even brought a fork in for you.]

Thank you. [A pause.] Are you...feeling particularly warm, Kurumi?

[That's..that's a good looking cake, right there.] Thanks, Jane.

[She'll get up with a stretch and--Oh. Right. Her arm.] Ah, something like that, yeah. Sometimes it gets a bit stuffy in here.]

[Gonna set it down for whenever you're ready.]

I see. Then, I suppose this whole place must be pretty stuffy to you. But, ah, we have a greenhouse now, that might be a little less stuffy? If you're feeling up to it, you should go take a look. They've even got the funniest pigeons in there.

[Catching the bandages out of the corner of her eye, but...eh, maybe she got into a spar with somebody here. Xander's always getting into it with the others to relieve stress, maybe Kurumi's the same.]

[Somehow she perks up a little.]

Did ya say pigeons?

[Oh! Oh, that's good to see.]

Yes! They have the most unusual coloring - they look like tiny cooing galaxies! They were so pretty, I took a couple of dropped feathers and cleaned them for my room.

[Is it safe to take shed feathers? Heck if Jane knows, but at least she's not stupid enough to pluck them off the birds.]

[Will she be able to get another Arnault?! She loves pigeons.]

That means we can get space messenger pigeons! Or maybe they just look like space. Either way, pigeons are great.

Golly, it depends if they can even survive out there...it's a little difficult to actually test that, given the inherent dangers, but who knows? Maybe they wouldn't mind having a bit more space to fly around.

We probably shouldn't test that but...

[Wait. Kurumi slams a fist into an open palm.] Let's take one to the gym.

[cyan_maid]

[Jane claps once, keeping her hands together.] Let's! Ooh, and perhaps some of the others might want to join us? If they'd like to see a pigeon in action, that is...though I bet it'll be quite a trip trying to bring it back home, huh?

We can do that! Though, if we get a basket? It won't be that hard. They fall right asleep in the dark. I think. [Do you want to hear about her pigeon catching exploits?]

[Yes.]

Do they now? I didn't know that. Do you have experience with this sort of thing?

I've caught one before on the roof of the school. [Beat.] To carry messages.

Oh wow! That's really clever! Are they just general messages that you're sending out, or are you hoping they get to someone specific?

Just general messages. I think Rii-san sent out our coordinates once.

[cyan_maid]

That's very clever! I hope they reach someone.

[If they can't get y'all to a nice parallel dimension on the TARDIS, a safe place at home is the best bet.]

[Not saying that they probably did and...things happened.]

[Shoosh]

I mean...even with everything as it is, back there, you and your friends can't be the only ones. The world's too big for everything to have gone to heck.

Right, right. We don't even know what happened outside our city so what do we know.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed, alright? I hope...that there's a definite limit to the area of infection.

I hope so. If not, well. Maybe people were more prepared elsewhere.

[A wan smile.] Mm. Again...fingers crossed.
