Week 7

[Well that weekend sucked. The Champions are down a dad and a bean and shrinking their numbers smaller and smaller, less and less.

There's no sign of life in the spaceport aside from PAL's omnipresent voice and SIS, the helpful asSIStant who has some control over certain heres and theres in the spaceport. She (and PAL) are available at all times and can appear anywhere if called. There is, however, a new floor to explore. Just hop in the elevator and pchoo.]

[ Well, he's not buying that! Noctis is absolutely climbing up to the top bunk. His weight settles next to her, his back against the wall. ]

I'm here if you want to talk.

[Nari won't reply, but a pigeon wiggles out of the blankets and coos at him. Hi!]

Oh-- hey. Kipsie, right? You're keeping her safe for us?

[Kipsie chirps softly, ruffling her feathers. That is a yes! She's not leaving her humans side.]

Thanks, Kipsie. She means a lot to us, you know? I'm gonna leave for a little while to get her some tea, so can you keep taking care of her while I'm gone?

[If a bird could look proud at being given this task, this one certainly would.]

[ Noctis pats her lightly on the head and slips off the top bunk. He leaves the room, and he's gone for a little while. When he returns, it's with a pot of hot water and some sealed teabags. There's also a bit of food, just stuff that'll be easy on the stomach--bread, some broth. ]

Alright, Kipsie, do you think you can get her out to eat a bite or two?

[Kipsie has moved to sit on top of the sleeping redhead, keeping a close watch. She coos softly, hops to where Nari's head is and starts making a noise.

After a few moments there's a stirring and grumbling coming from Nari.]

[ He chuckles softly and waits, but it's... it's cute. ]

Hey.

[More grumbling as Nari peeks out at Noctis.]

'was sleepin....

[ He holds up a bowl of broth for her. ]

You slept for a while, yeah.

.... really?

[Trying not to jostle Kipsie, Nari sits up carefully and takes the broth, watching it carefully.]

........ who made this?

I did. You don't have to eat it, I'll understand.

I brought something to drink, too. Everything's sealed.

.... [If she's been asleep since after the trial, and it's Sunday(?)... She takes a very hesitant sip. Waits a few minutes, then starts eating slowly. Her throat felt so dry and this was somehow soothing.]

..... thank you.... but you didn't have to... Could have just ignored me for how I acted.

[ He relaxes a little. Good. She still trusts him--he's glad for that. ]

I'm not going to ditch you just because you had a really bad day, Nari.

Bad day? I'm.... having bad weeks.

Probably not as bad as you think. I still like you.

For now. I'm......... not doing okay. I don't think I'll ever be okay. Never again.

Honestly? No one should get on your case for that. After everything that's happened here, I don't expect you to be completely okay.

But I'll still be here for you.

Yeah... but back in the mansion... I did so much to stay steady, there for people. I broke a few times, but now... I can't. I can't pretend I'm okay. Not today.

[ ... ah. ]

... Hey. No one wants you to spread yourself thin, okay? It's not fair to you.

Yeah, but they need someone. And I know... I know I can't be that someone. All I can do is treat wounds and illnesses. I'm not a leader. Just a medic.

You don't have to be that person. Just keep doing your best, alright?

Yurika can't do it, Xander is barely hanging on for Jane, Arianna can't do it, Church is broken, Junpei is too, I don't want Pyrrha in that spot, Max and Fukawa are too gentle, Heart isn't the type... and I can't just push it all off on you. Someone has to do it.
