Broken ceramic tends to have a troublesome edge, to say nothing of the blade itself.

You can't act as if scrubbing rust off of metal; it's slower work than that. [He ran the rougher broken side of the ceramic along the edge of the blade in a smooth motion.] And it's important to focus equally on both sides for a sharp and straight edge, as well.]

This thing should be an energy sword, but I guess that'd be too easy.

Your world has energy swords?

[He handed the ceramic back to Church, taking a seat next to him.]

The aliens have 'em, anyway, and Tucker picked one up. Only reacts to him. Which sucks.

[His frown deepens as he stares at the blade, but then starts going at one side back and forth.]

...That's unusual. We have weapons that react only to the royal bloodline, but it isn't as though others are incapable of using them.

Nope, straight up doesn't react to anyone else trying to use it. Some Chosen One prophecy bullshit.

...Let's change the subject immediately, because that is the last thing I would like to think about.

So this kind of weapon design isn't common for you?

You and Soma both.

It's only common in that it's used against us. Like they still have projectile weaponry and some really nasty shit, and also, energy swords. Swish swish stab, motherfucker.

Hm...the Niflheim army largely used projectiles, battlemechs and the like, but a fair percentage of the magitek infantry did carry axes and blades. Outside of Niflheim you'd largely find blades and the occasional handguns.

They can turn a whole planet to glass.

That's...a new one.

Like, they literally bombard everything until it's superheated and melted and basically turns into a fucked up kind of glass that isn't technically glass but...yeah. It's not pretty.

Yes, I gathered the effect even if we lacked anything on nearly that level. Where we're from, the only things capable of ending the world outright are the Astrals or the Starscourge.

I can't see you ending the world. But we've probably had a couple conversations like that before.

Probably. And I've probably told you outright that I did.

Well, you don't have mind control hate plague in you now, so I guess we're all safe from you killing us all, huh.

...yes. I've no reason or plans to kill anyone but Xander.
