[It's been about a week since the Champions woke up in their new consumerist hellscape of a temporary home and, despite a few odd goings on and the bomb incident with Church and Nari, things haven't been as bad as they could be. No one is even dead yet! But let's see how long that lasts.

[Varric's coming back from taking care of "important business" when he spots Church. He tries to tell himself the concern that twists his gut has to do with what happened to the man the previous week, but there's no denying that the blighted Rule 7 is on his mind.

Still, his posture is lax and his smile wide as he approaches the injured man.]

Uuuuuugh, lame. If I'd actually lost the hand, that'd be way funnier. And my body's probably gonna hate me in the morning, but man, I gotta see these robot things for myself.

I really don't think they're gonna kill us. Dander's been as up and up as he can be. And he thinks this is bullshit, too.

Don't get me wrong. I hate him, and being in the same building as him makes what's left of my skin crawl, but if he says they're basically harmless then he thinks that. Maybe his supers are lying to him, but so far we can't prove that to be the case.

Besides, killing us with dumb blartbots would be...lame. If we're supposed to kill each other.

He did say that your execution would be a waste. [His lip curls even as he speaks. Somehow, rule abiding villains were worse than the anarchistic ones.]

Wouldn't be surprised if his superiors were lying, though. This place is all about pitting people against each other, right? Why should we believe he's somehow exempt?

He's the guy stuck in the middle. But he's still an ass who's willing to maim and kill. He and his bosses robots can get absolutely shitfucked for all I care.

You gotta wonder, though. What are they holding over him? [Varric liked to think that most people wouldn't willingly sign up to moderate a killing game but... he'd been surprised by shit before.]
