Week 1

[After the reveal of their handsome and well-dressed but stern-looking Overseer on Sunday, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the mall to their hearts' content. At around 10 pm every night the lights in all the shops will go down and the sturdy metal grates over the doors of the restaurants will go down. The stores will remain unlocked, though.

On Monday morning, a buzzing alarm chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot. There's also a pop-up message waiting for them: a notice announcing Xander will be holding office hours

I wouldn't say I dislike them. [Anymore. So much.] So I wouldn't suggest putting them on the other list.

But I don't exactly know many personally.

Perhaps. I suppose we'll see, won't we? I've managed to make two human friends in my life so far.

[Which is still crazy to him, but hey.]

Oh, that would be Xander. My opinion on him is far from neutral. [And it sure ain't positive.] And he does seem to be human.

If it is not too presumptuous, I would be honored to be the third.

...ah, yes, of course. I must admit, I cannot remain entirely neutral about him, either.

So quickly? Do you always befriend people so soon after meeting them?

He makes it rather difficult, doesn't he? Not that I can say he's the most despicable human I've ever met. He has quite some competition in the area. But compared to everyone here, it's not much of a contest.

I... am uncertain what to think of him. Certainly he is our enemy, but...

[He doesn't make it sound like a bad thing, at least.]

But what? Do you require more to make a judgement about him?

I try to be.

Just the opposite. The more he spoke and acted, the less certain I was of my initial judgement.

It's a good thing to be. I hope you remain that way.

Hm. And what would your judgement be right now?

He seems... inconsistent.

[He thinks that over for a moment.]

Hmm... Yes, that might be a good word for it. He didn't always seem so steadfast, did he?

[Well, in context, that should technically be no, but shh.]

I believe he may be less sure of himself than he claims.

...I suppose we'll have to see if there's a way to work with that. I know the value in understanding your enemy. Blind hatred doesn't help. [He's more reminding himself there than anything else.] I suppose it's his employers who are the true enemy here anyway.

Indeed. Or perhaps even they report to someone at a higher level. Until he elects to be more forthcoming, we cannot be certain.

...but yes, it is important that we somehow gain a more complete understanding.

That's very possible. I suppose we'll find out.

Yes. You do have to know your enemy, after all. Especially when conventional tactics [i.e. kicking their ass] aren't possible.

He has stated his willingness to deal with us during his "office hours." Perhaps it would be wise to take advantage of that.

Yes... The more we deal with him, the more we can learn.

...It's a shame the rules prevent us from hurting him. In my experience, there's no better way to get to know someone than fighting them.

[...huh. "Likes: fighting" seems a little more sensible now.]

I cannot say my experience has been the same... but Sir Xander himself is responsible for punishing infractions, is he not? Perhaps, if he were to willingly engage you, he would overlook any injuries that resulted.

Perhaps... Do you think he might? I have to say, with that sword of his... I can't help but be intrigued. Fighting him might be very enjoyable.

[Just thinking about it is exciting.]
