Week 3

[Two weeks in, and all at once four people are dead. Chitose, Miki, Lucina, and Tsurugi - whatever the circumstances, however any of you may feel, their rooms are just as empty at the end of the week. If you check your P.I.P.s, you'll find that their pictures on the profile page have gone monochrome.

C.E.C.E.'s morning announcement comes like clockwork on Sunday. This time, though, there's an addendum to her usual message:]

Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your first trial, you have unlocked the second floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the second floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.

[In addition to the new floor, the Champions will find that they've gained another memory this week.]

Where'd that blood even come from, I was totally sitting right here and I didn't see shit up there.

[He's in baffled silence for a few moments more before he just--he's just going to skip over that first part entirely.]

I don't. know. But someone's having a very hearty laugh at me right now. ...Not you, I don't think you'd do this.

Naaaah. I would've taken that one myself, that's no big deal.

[Just. Gonna handwave that the Champions have discussed the boon/sabotage mechanic.]

The blood part kinda does suck.

If this costume had fit better, I might have taken it for myself deliberately. It does suit me, after all, despite the humiliation. The blood I could live without. There's no way I'm going to get the stain out of this material as it is. But I suppose, on the plus side, it isn't staining what few clothes I do have.

Yeah, there you go! You basically got a free smock to wear around while the blood is happening. Or...what is it, stage blood? I think they make that to wash out of stuff easy.

It seems to happen...randomly when I walk through a door. Like someone's set up buckets just for me. I'm not going to shove this thing in the shower every time it happens.

Well, you'll have it for later, right? Maybe take some scissors outta the art room, cut some of that extra stuff off, try to make a better outfit outta it.

[Max. Max. Honey. Darling.] I don't plan on parading around in a costume any longer than I have to, even if I do appreciate this majestic creature.

...But I'll have to remember the idea of a suit based on it. Hmmmm...

...feeeeel like I should tell you that that's basically the wardrobe of a villain from a Saturday morning cartoon.

The Blue-Eyes White Dragon is a positive force. A villain wouldn't be caught wearing its form. And anyone who makes a mockery of it answers to me. ...Costume notwithstanding.

I...have no idea what you're talking about. Are we speaking of the King of Games? [in which case yes he's totally into that]

It's what you're saying. You've mangled the pronunciation a little, but otherwise...

....ohhhh, translator. That kinda makes sense. It's, you know, the card game?

[He'd pull out his cards but, y'know, costume and fake blood.] Duel Monsters. The card game, I'm more than passingly familiar with it.

Oh, they just call it Yu-gi-oh in America. It was super popular...not that long ago, I guess? I'm not super tapped into "youth culture" anymore.

I've been to America, and I can promise you, they still call the game Duel Monsters over there.

...nnnnoooooope? I remember that, man, it kinda became a trend for a while. With the TV show and everything. Maybe that's, like, a weird minor difference between our worlds? Not the only one, but.

...Huh. There isn't a cartoon about it yet, but it's only a matter of time, honestly.

Oh, it's like, a big thing. Or it was, I dunno. There's a kid with spiky purple-slash-yellow hair in it and they play cards?

Ugh, Yuugi is the King of Games; they would make a cartoon about his life. [He's going to blame this on Pegasus.]

Of course I know him. He's only my rival above all rivals. He even came in first in my own tournament.
