Week 3

[Two weeks in, and all at once four people are dead. Chitose, Miki, Lucina, and Tsurugi - whatever the circumstances, however any of you may feel, their rooms are just as empty at the end of the week. If you check your P.I.P.s, you'll find that their pictures on the profile page have gone monochrome.

C.E.C.E.'s morning announcement comes like clockwork on Sunday. This time, though, there's an addendum to her usual message:]

Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your first trial, you have unlocked the second floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the second floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.

[In addition to the new floor, the Champions will find that they've gained another memory this week.]

[He bookmarks his page and slides his book onto the tabletop, happy to engage in conversation.]

This's the chocobo song! It always cheers me up, even in the worst of times.

It's very... peppy! Peppy's a good word for it.

[She slides into the booth opposite Prompto. Seeing him smile again is good.]

What's a chocobo, though?

Aw, your world doesn't have them, either? You guys are missing out.

[Eos may be a fuckball mess of a planet, but Prompto wouldn't trade chocobos for anything.]

They're these big birds-- [He spreads his arms to illustrate the size.] --too big to really fly, but really fast on the ground. They're smart and loyal and you can rent them for a few days to ride if you gotta get somewhere with bad roads. And! They're really cute. Totally majestic.

They sound absolutely wonderful! I'd love to see them someday.

[He almost invites her to Wiz's Chocobo Post, but the chances of him being welcome there ever again, or anywhere in the lands that once belonged to Lucis, are slim.]

Too bad my camera hasn't turned up. Pretty sure I still had tons of pictures of the guys. Oh man, you'd love the babies, they're so small and round and fluffy.

They sound very cute! If you get your camera I'd love to see them!


I don't think we have anything liek that on Remnant. ...I mean maybe Nevermores? But they're a type of Grimm, so they're not cute and you DEFINITELY wouldn't want to try riding one even if you could.

Oh, yeah, no, like--humanity's domesticated some of the wild animals around Eos, I think there are semi-tamed garula herds out there. But you shouldn't even touch a daemon. They're bad news.

Beyond just being aggressive, you mean?

[It sounds like it, anyway.]

...This song is certainly long, isn't it?

[Prompto just snickers and ducks behind his book once more.]

Uh, hmm! You think? I hadn't noticed.

Maybe? Just a little.

[Maybe it just has a dip in the middle?]

[His eyes dart across the diner, and then he leans in and lowers his voice.]

Penny, I punched it into the jukebox twenty-one times.

Oh! Oooh. ...You must REALLY be feeling homesick, I'm so sorry.

...Well, a little. [His smile's a little pained.] But mostly I want to see how long it takes everyone to catch on.

Oh. Oh! I think I get it.

[Her voice drops to match his.]

How long has it been?

Five so far. I think 'Kira's about ready to stab through the table with his fork.

I hope not, that might count as damaging the station.

It's not something vital like a wall or life support, so maybe not? ...I'll stop him if he actually tries.
