Week 3

[Two weeks in, and all at once four people are dead. Chitose, Miki, Lucina, and Tsurugi - whatever the circumstances, however any of you may feel, their rooms are just as empty at the end of the week. If you check your P.I.P.s, you'll find that their pictures on the profile page have gone monochrome.

C.E.C.E.'s morning announcement comes like clockwork on Sunday. This time, though, there's an addendum to her usual message:]

Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your first trial, you have unlocked the second floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the second floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.

[In addition to the new floor, the Champions will find that they've gained another memory this week.]

Nah, dude, not me. One sugar but I usually take it black. Gotta watch my figure, you know?

[akira hums, but makes no further comment about Prompto's figure. He DOES put the plate in front of him though]

You're a prince among men. Thanks for the fooood. [He takes a spoonful of rice and curry and digs in.] Mm--

[Prompto stops, eyes closed, the taste of it on his tongue--and the ingredients are different, the place is different, everything is different and he can never go back--but if his eyes are a little wet when he swallows and opens them again, he's smiling faintly, too.]

...Tastes like home, dude.

[akira offers him a tiny smile in turn]

I get that feeling. Sojiro-san's curry is like that... If I got even close, I'm happy.

Sojirosan is a friend of yours? ...A teacher?

[As good as it is, Prompto eats slowly. He wants to savor every bite.]

[he nods]

He's my guardian while I'm living away from my mom. He owns a cafe so he's been teaching me some stuff.

Oh, that's cool. So like an apprenticeship.

[He ends up thinking of Cindy taking over most of Hammerhead's work from Cid. Man. Cindy. Will he ever see her again? He shakes his head to clear it.]

Is he nice?

Kinda cranky at first, but he's great once you get used to him.

Hmm. I know people like that.

[And he sounds very fond of those people, if a little melancholy, too.]

I think everyone does. Though he sure threw me off when we first met.
