Week 3

[Two weeks in, and all at once four people are dead. Chitose, Miki, Lucina, and Tsurugi - whatever the circumstances, however any of you may feel, their rooms are just as empty at the end of the week. If you check your P.I.P.s, you'll find that their pictures on the profile page have gone monochrome.

C.E.C.E.'s morning announcement comes like clockwork on Sunday. This time, though, there's an addendum to her usual message:]

Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your first trial, you have unlocked the second floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the second floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.

[In addition to the new floor, the Champions will find that they've gained another memory this week.]

Wow~ How cool, Plisetsky-san!

[Manaka has been exploring the new rooms as well, so of course she eventually winds up at the swimming pool/ice rink combo. They've barely spoken to one another, but when she interrupts him, she does so without any shyness at all, her words punctuated with a not-unkind giggle.]

[quadjumps]

[ man everyone's coming to spectate him today, huh. yuri looks over at manaka and stops. he's scowling, but it's not as angry as it usually is. ]

Huh? Were you looking to use the pool?

[immaculacies]

Oh! No, nothing like that. I'm just exploring, so you can keep doing what you're doing. Unless you're worried about someone watching you practice, Champion Figure Skater?

[quadjumps]

Huh? Who said I was worried?

[ a deeper scowl, then he turns away and pulls out his phone. ]

Hey, do you know if there's a speaker system in here?

[immaculacies]

[She shakes her head, still smiling in the face of his scowl.]

I wouldn't know. Do you want me to check for you?

[quadjumps]

Yeah. Let me know.

[ god why is she so calm all the time it's freaking him out, ]

[immaculacies]

[What, is she supposed to react to his surly attitude? Don't be silly, Yuri, emotions are for people who care.

She does as asked without complaint, making her away around the perimeter of the rink. She takes her time to check and double-check, but... Eventually, she comes back to her original spot and sits down along the wall.]

Mm... I don't think there's anything like that in here, Plisetsky-san. I don't know as much about modern technology as some people, though, so maybe there's something I overlooked.

[quadjumps]

[ you know, the fact that she isn't reacting is reminiscent of home. he kind of appreciates it. ]

Whatever, it's fine. If you wanted to get on the rink, too, be my guest. Just don't bump into me.

[immaculacies]

Hm? Who said I wanted to skate? [Her expression brightens again, like she's joking around.] Maybe I just want to watch the Champion Figure Skater in action, since you aren't charging admission.

[quadjumps]

[ there's something a little off-putting about the way she says that, but whatever. ]

...Uh. Sure.

[ he'll just...skate back and do more jumps and the like. is that good enough for manaka? ]

[immaculacies]

[Apparently so. For the most part, she's quiet... Unless Yuri pulls off a move that looks particularly impressive, or particularly sudden. In that case, he might hear a little gasp from Manaka's direction.]

[quadjumps]

...I should charge you for how long you're staying.

[ he is not used to people watching him practice if they aren't practicing themselves!! ]

[immaculacies]

[Manaka gives him a perfectly cute laugh in return for that comment.]

Sorry, sorry! Unfortunately, I don't have much I can pay with. You understand, right?

[quadjumps]

Uh-huh.

[ he's joking around girl (even if it's not obvious rip) ]

I mean, there's always those things that just randomly show up, too.

That assumes I've been given anything of particular value. Unless you'd really like some antibiotic gel?

[She understands that he's joking—but it's just as hard to tell how sincere that she's being in reply, for perhaps the exact opposite reason. Her smile and chipper tone of voice doesn't falter in even the slightest.]

I've just never had the chance to see something like this before. So, it's okay for me to be interested, right?

[quadjumps]

It could come in handy.

[ he shrugs, but manaka's honestly one of those people who can ease the sass on him... ]

Uh. I guess...

[ there's something about her... ]

[immaculacies]

[He's being dubious, and she meets that attitude with another little laugh.]

I'm being honest, Plisetsky-san. I just mean that I've never been able to enjoy a skating performance before.

[quadjumps]

Why? Is skating not a thing where you come from?

[immaculacies]

Mm. [She shakes her head.] It's a little more complicated than that.

[...But, she doesn't elaborate.]
