In a Galaxy Far, Far Away
[Max doesn't bother putting out any flyers for this or anything; he's already discussed the movie party with a lot of people, and he'll probably round up anybody he's missed while he's getting ready. The preparations aren't anything too fancy. He's put a soda by each seat, along with a little plastic cup of popcorn. It's not a lot of work, but it's a fair amount of cups - maybe someone can help get it ready?
Regardless, he'll lean out the door and call when he's done:]
Hey, dudes, come watch Star Wars with us!
[Yes, it's Star Wars night. A New Hope, none of that prequel garbage. We apologize to Finn, I guess.]

[Zombina practically has stars in her eyes as she talks.]
Plus, Zombie movies have been around like, a long ass time since waaaaaay before the world at large found out that liminal species like us zombies were actually a real thing!
no subject
[That doesn't totally make sense to Prompto--even if people were ignorant, he'd still be kind of hurt if someone had portrayed, like, freckly blonds as some kind of mindless monsters--but Zombina knows best, he guesses.]
What's a 'liminal species?'
no subject
[Zombina points at herself.]
Zombies like me are classified as an liminal-species, but we're more an condition than an entirely different species. 'Cause, well, ya know. All Zombies but Frakenstiens were originally human.

[His brain immediately leaps to the idea of daemons getting civil rights, and the thought is so awful and revolting that he mentally catapults himself onto a different topic.]
So there's no such thing as zombie animals, then? Just humans?
no subject
[Too late btw. Demons are a limnial species.]
no subject
[Curious!]
What other liminal species are there? --Wait, don't tell me if they're scary.
no subject
[Zombina puts her arms behind her head and hums in thought.]
So ya really just want me ta skip the scary ones? Or just not mention the scary stuff 'bout them? I dunno, it might be fun ta see ya scared!
[Don't be smart about this Zombina.]

Oooookay then...
[Shit a lot of them are scary. Uhhhh how about...]
Well there's the Barometz. Barometz are like goat or sheep people. Not much special there besides the horns and some wool here and there.
There's also Centaurs! Y'know, basically the top half of a person where a horses' neck should be! They pretty much act like knights and have an whole thing about finding a master and chivalry and honor. They have a few subspecies too. Dairy-Breed, Heavyweight, and Light Weight Centaurs! They're... exactly what they sound like.
[
There also might be an Unicorn subtype too??? But only canon to the online game for now.]There's the scatter brained Harpies! They tend ta look real young their whole lives 'cause of the light frames they have ta have for flying. Only the land Harpies look their age since they don't need the slight frame ta fly. They're only females, so they tend ta go out and mate with males of other species.
Recently Slimes have started gaining intelligence and assuming human-like forms, so they ain't really got a culture yet. Most of the species and sub species are safe though.
There are also Kobolds are like furry humans with dog traits. Y'know, ears, tail, nose. They got super sensitive sense of smell and hearing, but beyond that only other notable thing is that most of 'em have somehow made an small fortune sellin' cobalt.
Another species are the Scylla, which are like humans but with the bottom half of an octopus and stuff. Not much ta talk 'bout there.
I can't forget all those Were's too. They're basically just intelligent humanoid versions of whatever comes after the Were in their species name. Wererabbits, Werecats, Werewolves, and Werefoxes.
Then there's Holstaurs, which are like Minotaur-lite. They just have cow ears. Similar ta them are the Cat girls and Bunny girls, which only have the tail and ears of their animal.
We also got Dullahan, but they can really only just remove their heads. Nothing that special besides the black sclera, pale hair, and blue skin.
The other non-scary species are ogres, Mermaids, Monoeyes, Orcs, Minotaur, Lizardfolk, Dragonewts aka Dragonkin, Mothmen, Elves, and Dryads, but I think their names mostly speak for themselves. If ya want elaboration on any of 'em or wanna hear 'bout the more 'scary' species, feel free ta ask. They're still basically just people, but with more scary outsides.
[Lamia, Alarune, Arachne, Devils, Zombies, Leeches, Matango, Mosquitoes.... the list goes on.]
Honestly there are probably a shit ton more species even I don't know about! S' pretty crazy that the government kept the general public ignorant 'bout their existence for so long.
no subject
[Never mind that he missed, like, half of those explanations on account of Eos not having those animals. Like, the hell is a 'rabbit'? Or a 'horse'?]
No, wait--how did they manage to stay hidden? And there's more? It sounds like there's enough liminal species to have their own country!
no subject
[Zombina shrugs. It baffles her too tbh.]
They withdrew to isolated areas and only secretly interacted with humans. Far as I know, they and the government mutually worked together ta keep their existence an secret. I'm pretty damn sure the mermaids have their own underwater kingdom though, with an queen and shit too.
no subject
[He grins.]
Do they live in a sand castle?
no subject
[Zombina laughs just thinking about it.]
I ain't been there myself for obvious reasons, but I've heard that it's like an grand city down there with a castle and stuff! They're pretty much free ta run their own civilization down there.

[Zombina shrugs at the question about light.]
Fuck if I know. Maybe they just got, like, glowy plants or sea life or something? Shit, that might be even cooler now that I think about it!
no subject
[He shudders.]

You have daemons, too?
[Mmmm, words that are pronounced exactly the same, time for some delicious, delicious misunderstandings, probably.]
no subject
[Implying that there's scarier stuff out there.]

[Zombina don't be so casual about blowing his poor mind.]

I think we're talking about really different things.
