In a Galaxy Far, Far Away

[Max doesn't bother putting out any flyers for this or anything; he's already discussed the movie party with a lot of people, and he'll probably round up anybody he's missed while he's getting ready. The preparations aren't anything too fancy. He's put a soda by each seat, along with a little plastic cup of popcorn. It's not a lot of work, but it's a fair amount of cups - maybe someone can help get it ready?

Regardless, he'll lean out the door and call when he's done:]

Hey, dudes, come watch Star Wars with us!

[Yes, it's Star Wars night. A New Hope, none of that prequel garbage. We apologize to Finn, I guess.]

Whoa... Damn, girl, that's so many species! How does anyone keep track of them all?

[Never mind that he missed, like, half of those explanations on account of Eos not having those animals. Like, the hell is a 'rabbit'? Or a 'horse'?]

No, wait--how did they manage to stay hidden? And there's more? It sounds like there's enough liminal species to have their own country!

[Zombina shrugs. It baffles her too tbh.]

They withdrew to isolated areas and only secretly interacted with humans. Far as I know, they and the government mutually worked together ta keep their existence an secret. I'm pretty damn sure the mermaids have their own underwater kingdom though, with an queen and shit too.

Well, that makes sense. Easier to stay hidden if you're living all the way under the sea, so you don't need to be careful about your... oh, man.

[He grins.]

Do they live in a sand castle?

[Zombina laughs just thinking about it.]

I ain't been there myself for obvious reasons, but I've heard that it's like an grand city down there with a castle and stuff! They're pretty much free ta run their own civilization down there.

That's so cool, though. Do you think they have sea cars? Sea stoplights? ...Wow, what would they do for light down there? Now it's sort of scary to think about.

Man, I hope they do! I mean, sea cars seem kinda redundant when they can swim and stuff, but that'd still be pretty kickass!

[Zombina shrugs at the question about light.]

Fuck if I know. Maybe they just got, like, glowy plants or sea life or something? Shit, that might be even cooler now that I think about it!

I guess as long as it's not, like, totally dark. Now I'm worried about there being sea daemons down there. Eeegh.

[He shudders.]

Sea daemons? Ya mean like Demons? 'cause as far as I know, they don't have any aquatic subspecies, so ya don't need ta worry 'bout them down there.

[Uh-oh.]

You have daemons, too?

[Mmmm, words that are pronounced exactly the same, time for some delicious, delicious misunderstandings, probably.]

Well, yeah. S' one of the scarier liminal species though, but not by much in my opinon. The official species name is Devils, but it's like tomato tamato, so whatever.

[Implying that there's scarier stuff out there.]

W...wait, if they're liminal species, too, do they... are they like you? Do they. Talk? And stuff?

Yup! There's like... three types I think?

[Zombina don't be so casual about blowing his poor mind.]

Sooooo.... what're they like in your world?

Bad. [He twists his hands together.] They kill people, if they're out at night and there aren't enough lights to keep them safe. Or if they can't defend themselves. They're a lot stronger than the regular wildlife.

Damn. The most Devils do are pranks with hypnosis. That's only the Lesser and Greater Devils though. The Greater Devils live for a long time, so they tend ta have grown outta that.

[Zombina actually looks kinda concerned.]

Ya got ways ta combat 'em though, right?

Yeah, everywhere there's a lot of people living together, they've got enough lights on at night to keep them at bay. But in between, on the roads... it's dangerous for people to travel from town to town, if they can't get there before it's dark.

...And the nights are getting longer.

S' like... on a scale of 1 - 10 how shootable are these things?

[If there's a problem, there's a gun that will solve it.]

[He just shakes his head and shrugs helplessly at the first question. He's not a scientist, he doesn't understand anything.]

Oh, they're plenty shootable. I shoot them. They just... take more shooting to deal with than, like, your average Voretooth.

No Idea what a Voretooth is, but it sounds like an pain in the ass ta deal with.

[Zombina shrugs.]

If they're shootable, then if ya need help with 'em once we get outta here, feel free ta call. It doesn't sound like an boring time, that's for sure!

[Zombina your planing a veritable road trip at this point.]

True enough. Never a dull moment on Eos! Sure puts a new spin on the concept of nightlife, though, hahaha.

[Oh my god Prompto it's... not a joking matter... how many dead Hunters' dog tags have you gathered.]

[Zombina cackle in laughter.]

So ya use guns too? What's your favorite type? I'm an semi-automatic girl myself! Spray and pray is the way ta go!

[Sure she could shoot accurately, but that's more Manako's thing. Plus, where's the fun in that?]

Eh, I tend to go for smaller handguns. Light and easy to handle, and you can pull off some awesome trick shots if you're lucky. [He spreads his hands out.] Sometimes we pick up these enormous machine weapons, though, and sometimes those fit the occasion better, you know? Nasty kick to 'em, though, the recoil's knocked me flat, like, dozens of times.

Oh man, trick shots are hella fun ta try and do! Accurate shootin's more Manako-chan's thing, but I can do it if I wanna.

[Zombina's eyes practically light up at the description of the machine weapons.]

I have got ta get my hands on one of those bad boys! They sound fucking amazing!

[He laughs.]

Tell you what. Soon as I get my access to the royal armory back, I'll let you check some of them out. They might be Niff tech, but man, the punch those babies pack is worth it. Makes a guy feel like he can take on a whole army!
