Week 1

[After the initial introduction of the Overseers, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the part of the ship they have access to to their hearts' content. However, the doors that Blaze Dudely and Rox came through are locked tight and cannot be unlocked via PIP.

On Wednesday morning, the same voice that awakened them the previous morning chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot.

[So, Tuesday, ah... well, it certainly happened. Most of the day after that was something of a blur, but perhaps that's to be expected. But today shall be different.

For a considerable part of the day, Tsurugi can be found in the library. He's set aside a few books he's planning to read, because there's no reason he can't educate himself even in a place like this. So it's mostly non-fiction right now. However, he's not reading right now. Instead, he's going through the bookcases, pulling back book after book and then moving along to the next row.

So that's a thing.

Later, he's checking out the storage room. And staring with an extremely puzzled expression at a granola bar.]

Is this really edible?

[Lunafreya has been wandering around mostly. When she finds someone in the storage room, she goes to investigate. Better to meet everyone as soon as she can anyways, right?]

They are edible. It is a type of ration, I believe.

It simply looks so odd, it's hard to imagine anyone eating this.

I do not know what it tastes like myself, but some seem to enjoy it. I believe it is made to be filling, yet that does not mean it is palatable.

It seems strange to make a food not intended to be palatable. But if people really do eat it...

Is that so? So a last resort then, in case there is no other food left? That makes much more sense!

Honestly, I have trouble believing anyone would eat this willingly.

[Hey Tsurugi, it's your (possibly) favorite person standing in the open doorway. More like leaning against it, though.]

Does it have an expiration date on it? I would wager that granola could possibly last forever.

No, I don't see a date, but...

[He continues. Staring.]

It's supposed to look like this?

Generally they are! They are made of oats, nuts, grains...sometimes dried fruits, and they are all compressed so it is easier to eat. And so it will keep for a long time.

It may look unappetizing, but they are usually very sweet if prepared properly.

Ah, I see now! So all of that is in this strange bar? Amazing. I guess it's much more than meets the eye!

In that case... [He starts opening the wrapper.] Perhaps I should try it!

I don't see why it wouldn't be? These aren't nice people, but if they wanted us dead they could've killed us while we were unconscious.

[Spoken very matter of factly.]

It would be pretty strange to set all this up and then poison this but not the food from the kitchens.

Aha... Yes, very true!

[Jesus, Penny, that's dark.]

But that's not really my concern. Rather... it barely even looks like food...

[Manaka has been spending much of her time scouring the library as well. So... It isn't a surprise that she has her own books that she's searching, or that the repetitive noise of books being pulled out and slid back into place rouses her.]

Are you looking for anything in particular?

Ah, well... Sort of! [He's still going, even as he answers her. No book is left alone.] I thought perhaps there might be something hidden here! Like some sort of secret switch, perhaps?

Oh. [It's not...a terrible idea, really? But...] Are you going to check every one? By hand?

But of course! It's the only way to be sure!

Are you trying to find some sort of secret passage?

Yes, I am! Traditionally those are always hidden by bookcases, after all!

Any luck so far?

Not yet. But if there's anything, I'll find it. I won't rest until I've checked every inch!

[And yeah, he is just going book... by book... One at a time.
