Week 1

[After the initial introduction of the Overseers, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the part of the ship they have access to to their hearts' content. However, the doors that Blaze Dudely and Rox came through are locked tight and cannot be unlocked via PIP.

On Wednesday morning, the same voice that awakened them the previous morning chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot.

Huh?

[That's actually...not something she expected anyone here to say. So far, it seemed like everyone's worlds were vastly different, and it was the people who were either understanding and flexible, tolerant, or indignant. She listens to Prompto's explanation, earnest, curious - rather intrigued, actually.]

The Draconian...and he is in charge of the light. Hm...Naga is similar, in her own way. She has defended humanity time and again over thousands of years, and my sword was made by her as a divine blade of light. [A pause.] Ah, I don't know if this is the case in your world, but, I was told by someone here that "Naga" could also be a person who was partially a snake. But that's not the case with the Naga I know at all.

[Just, you know, to clear that all up.]

[It's not until she mentions the snake women that Prompto's eyes widen. He snaps his fingers.]

Yeah! That's what Iggy called her, after! I totally got snatched by one of those snake ladies once, she grabbed me and dragged me down to the bottom of a cave!

[After a pause, his excited recognition fades into remembered horror, and he shivers.]

It was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life.

[When he's describing such a monster kidnapping him to its lair, Lucina's mouth falls open, her expression steadily growing horrified.]

Oh...I-I'm so sorry, I didn't know...the Naga of my realm would never, never do that to anyone, I swear! She doesn't even look like a snake!

[He holds his hands up.] I believe you, I believe you! It's just funny, is all. I mean, not funny in a haha way--well, maybe a little in the haha way.

[Not the part where a naga dragged him across a cavern floor like a mop, though.]

It's just... Like, even your name. [He holds his hand to his chest.] The kingdom I'm from, it's Lucis. That makes me a Lucian. And here you are, from a whole different world, and your name's Lucina. Funny coincidence, right?

I don't really see how it could be taken as funny in a humorous sense, but if you're sure...

[She just. Really doesn't want to make the people she's here with upset, that's not going to help if they're all mad at each other for misunderstandings. She's still listening, though, tilting her head just a bit.]

...That, however, I can...see how it could be funny. It sounds like it's just...two letters of difference, from such completely different realms. Almost like it's barely different at all.

I wonder if it means the same thing in both places. Lucian, Lucis... that's all got to do with light, at least where I'm from.

[The last bastion of freedom and hope as the night eats into their precious day hours. He tries not to think about it.]

Ah, well...my mother told me, once, what my name means. But I'm not quite sure why she chose it at all. She said it means, "she who brings children into the light".

[So there is a general 'light' theme going on.]

[Was her mom seriously bugging her about grandkids from the moment of her birth?]

It's a nice name, though. Thoooough I guess I'm kinda biased.

[Yeesh, of course she picks up on what he means with this one.]

I don't think that was her intent...but, thank you. I'm partial to it myself.

[He chuckles a little and rubs his nose, embarrassed that she actually got his drift this time.]

Well, I mean, it's sort of a heavy expectation either way, right? Whether it's literal or metaphorical. ...Kind of reminds me of my friend Noct.

[Hey she's not stupid or completely oblivious, just...srs.]

Noct's the prince--or the king now, I guess.

[It's not something the four of them talked about much, and now that he's found himself explaining it to people, it just makes him sadder and sadder.]

A-anyway... his full name is Noctis Lucis Caelum. 'Lucis Caelum,' that's the name all the rulers of Lucis have. Something like 'Light in the Sky.' Family name, you know?

[She... perhaps doesn't, given Fire Emblem naming conventions, but anyway.]

And his first name, Noctis, that's 'Night.' So it's like his parents were asking him to bring light back to the sky in times of darkness.

[And Prompto can't imagine a darker time than the one Noct lives in now.]

Pretty weighty charge to lay on your baby.

[Eh, they have the Brand of the Exalt, it's totally the same thing.]

Ah...that does sound like an incredible burden to bear. Perhaps...if my parents had known what would happen to my realm, they might have named me something else, but, it isn't up to me to save it, not completely. I could never do it all on my own...

Yeah. Something like that... I--I mean, he's only human. [He breathes out, closing his eyes tightly.] Not even a king can hold up if everything's on him like that, especially... especially if he keeps losing people.

[He looks up again, resolute.]

That's why I've got to get Lady Lunafreya back to him. Partly because she's the Oracle, yeah, but also because... because he needs her. He needs her to be with him.

[At that, she's quiet for a moment...then nods. There's something like understanding in Lucina's eyes, a sad sort, but she's still keeping up her small, almost Mona Lisa-like smile that's just barely perceptible, and reaches out to Prompto, offering her hand.]

I understand. They...care for each other, yes? One without the other would leave them incomplete?

[Just like her father and mother.]

You'll get her back home. With that sort of determination, and dedication...as long as you keep that going strong in your heart, you won't falter. I'm sure of it.

[photoshooter]

[After a beat, he returns that gentler, more understand smile of hers--a smile that recognizes that not everything is sunshine and chocobos. That sometimes, saving the world is as small and as enormous as saving your best friend. Prompto shares that smile with her and clasps her hand.]

Thanks, Lucina. I'll do my best.

[It's not a moment she had expected in this place, not with how different everything is to all she's ever known - but what her mother had told her of building bonds is true. They can change so very much, even just a person's outlook.]

I'm glad to hear it. And I'm sure Lady Lunafreya will be happy for it as well.

Haha, I hope so! Or Noct's in for a world of embarrassment.

[He leans in, lowering his voice.]

He's had a crush on her since he was, like, eight.

[So she was actually kind of right on her "important person" hunch]

Ah, I won't say anything about it to her, or...to him, if we all get out of here together, and he's there. Somehow. If...that's possible.

Aw, but I wanna know if she likes him back! Can't we ask her a little bit?

I think...something like that is a bit private, but, if it's something she doesn't mind sharing, then it's alright...but if it's her own feelings, she may want to keep them to herself.

What if I didn't ask her directly? I'm sure there's a way to be, like, sneaky about it.

Perhaps...but it would be prudent to either not ask at all or be incredibly careful about how you ask.

I could ask her what her type of guy is, or where she sees herself in ten years, or--oooooh.

[He goes very quiet and thoughtful, fingertips against his mouth, eyes bright with an idea.]

We could all play Truth or Dare or something. Then I won't even have to ask. That stuff always comes up during Truth or Dare.

Truth or Dare...that's a game, right? Then, if she played, she would have to say it, or...be made to do a dare. That is how it goes, isn't it? It's been a long time.
