week 4
[Four weeks in the Starfield Penitentiary and seven people have lost their lives to Blaze Dudely's cruel game. At some point the robots cleaned up the mess left behind and by Sunday the involved rooms (including the fridge) are all clean and free of blood. In fact there's no sign left of any of the deaths that have happened on the ship so far by at least the next day. The only physical signs that people are gone are the empty beds.
On Sunday morning, you may find that you're recovering a a few other things as well - both strange dreams and some new items.
In addition, there's a new set of doors at the end of the corridor, in the space between the infirmary and the exercise yard. Looks like you've got a new wing to explore.]

[welp. might as well throw that out there again, as a reminder.]
Depending on what training he has, Price would have ways to trigger a memory. Either that or we're all lucky enough to have them float back up to the surface at the same time each week, but that would be stretching it.

[ god they're so annoying ]
That's pretty much how they have all this control on us, isn't it?
no subject
[cynical? yeah. but he thinks he's right.]
I can't say I like the fact a psychiatrist has control of my memories, again.

[ pen and paper baby ]
...Can I ask what happened the last time that happened to you?

[There's a pause, and Will leans back juuust a little. When he speaks, his voice is... level, and a carefully detached. It feels like such a long time ago now, but really it had been the Minnesota Shrike case that had introduced him to Hannibal in the first place. Without it, maybe they would've never entered each other's orbit.]
The... first case I worked on outside of academy teaching ended with me shooting the culprit dead when he tried to slit his daughter's throat. Part of the protocol when that happens is to have a psyche-eval to make sure that the act of killing in the line of duty didn't... distress you.
I'm not a fan of being psychoanalysed, but they persuaded me to have my meeting with a notable surgeon-turned-psychiatrist that had consulted with us on the case, a man called Hannibal Lecter. Due to the nature of my work and a few side effects that came with it, I continued the meetings after being cleared for duty again.
... [He isn't really sure how to condense the story, or keep it brief. There was just so much of it, and he's never really told it before. The people who mattered were part of the tale in the first place, and those who weren't had found out through hearsay, or Tattlecrime of all places. Poking into his life like it was entertainment.]
I... started to have problems, as time went on. I was still profiling murder cases, and trying to make sure Minnesota Shrike's daughter was as fine as she could be, given what had happened and the backlash of what her father had done. I started having gaps in my memory, sleepwalking and even experiencing visual and auditory hallucinations. Eventually, I was referred to an neurologist for a scan. For... a long time afterwards, I thought the scan had revealed nothing. But it had actually shown I was suffered from advanced encephalitis, something that Hannibal Lecter knew and actively hid from me so he could keep analysing what happened to me the longer I stayed ill.
[His mouth twists into something unpleasant, and unhappy.]
And so that he could set me up to take the fall for his own series of recent murders. Hannibal induced seizures and memory lapses so I would forget important events or things he'd done to plant evidence against me. It took a long time for me to realise there was nothing wrong with me, and even longer to prove that to everyone else.
[And a lot of things got lost along the way. Lives, friends, people's trust in him and his ability to trust in people he'd thought had his back.]
All because he wanted to wind me up and see how I ticked. So... I'm not a big fan of putting my faith in psychiatrists.

well. it definitely makes sense, now, why will can't trust psychiatrists.
mako sighs, rubbing his temples. that was...a lot to process. ]
So..this guy basically just set you up and framed you for murder. Sounds like he's a piece of work.

[ He's aware there are gaps there but... sitting down and explaining his and Hannibal's story would take a long, long time. And most of his energy, as well. ]
Multiple murders. Hannibal is... an almost textbook example of an intelligent psychopath. People are beneath him; no better than animals, so he has no issue killing them like livestock. Unfortunately for me, I interested him enough to be acknowledged as something other than that.
no subject
Did you ever get that guy for his crimes? Someone like him needs to be locked up. For good.
no subject
[ Then Hannibal was locked up in Baltimare State the same way Will had once been. Which means there was somewhere for Will Graham to aid, manipulate and orchestrate his escape from. But why? ]
I think so.
Which would answer my question in the first week of whether or not our "crimes" are legitimate or not.
no subject
Then you helped him escape?!
no subject
[ HE LOOKS PRETTY UNSURE ABOUT IT TO BE FAIR?? Also note the part that points out Hannibal Lecter is a cannibal as well, just for funsies. ]
no subject
You let a goddamn cannibalistic serial killer on the loose.
[ GOD. DAMN. ]
no subject
[ Christ. ]
...
I would've had a reason to. That's all I can say until someone decides I'm allowed my memories back.
no subject
[ mako just. sighs in aggravation.
because while he is incredibly puzzled by this, it's true that there are gaps in their memories, and maybe, just maybe there's a good enough explanation for this that will doesn't know yet. ]
no subject
[ and he really doesn't sound doubtful about that. ]
I don't owe Hannibal anything. Whatever reason there was, it was likely compelling
