week 4

[Four weeks in the Starfield Penitentiary and seven people have lost their lives to Blaze Dudely's cruel game. At some point the robots cleaned up the mess left behind and by Sunday the involved rooms (including the fridge) are all clean and free of blood. In fact there's no sign left of any of the deaths that have happened on the ship so far by at least the next day. The only physical signs that people are gone are the empty beds.

On Sunday morning, you may find that you're recovering a a few other things as well - both strange dreams and some new items.

In addition, there's a new set of doors at the end of the corridor, in the space between the infirmary and the exercise yard. Looks like you've got a new wing to explore.]

And nothing poisonous, I'm assuming?
andneversaydie: it was a very nice dinner funeral (i took it out back and buried it.)

Not that I know of, no, though I'm probably gonna be a little careful around the stuff I don't recognize. I think this place was supposed to be an actual prison before all this, though, so unless there's some really fast-growing stuff Blaze planted, that seems... like it'd be a dumb idea.
pr159: (or let me put this another way)

[personal profile] pr159 2017-09-05 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree, though since this prison supposedly housed so many different species, I would think it possible that something that would have been harmless to most could be toxic to another without those in charge realizing it.
andneversaydie: (all of my friends are dead)

[personal profile] andneversaydie 2017-09-05 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
...huh. You know, that... does make sense, thinking about it. How do we figure out what that'd be, though? I mean, without hurting anyone.
pr159: (because i gave it away)

[personal profile] pr159 2017-09-05 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
How about you make it your homework assignment to see what the library can tell you about the unfamiliar plants here [ because he has no desire to try to match leaves to drawings on book pages ], and I'll see if I can draw any conclusions based on what you learn about their biology and chemical makeup.

Sounds like a pretty good plan to me. I'll... try and bookmark 'em in a way that'll be easy to follow, then, and we can work it out together later.
pr159: (and fighting gave me a rush)

Excellent. I appreciate the cooperation.

[ Succeed in this and maybe he'll forgive you for dumping all that magenta crap on him back during the pirate takeover. No, he still has not forgotten about that. ]

Oh, maybe we could figure out which ones are good for medicine, too. Since... well, I mean, we've got the infirmary, but it'd be nice to have stuff just in case.
pr159: (it's more that you're not needed)

[personal profile] pr159 2017-09-06 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
That's what I'm aiming for, actually. A poison and a cure are often derived from the same source, you know. It's all about knowing how to use it.
andneversaydie: it was a very nice dinner funeral (i took it out back and buried it.)

[personal profile] andneversaydie 2017-09-06 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, right. Like how you take a little bit of some herbs and it makes you feel better, but if you take too much, you just feel worse in the long run.
pr159: (i don't have time to regret)

[personal profile] pr159 2017-09-06 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
...Something like that.

[ what herbs have you been taking ]

Anyway, whatever you're able to find out, we may be able to put it to use in treating symptoms that the drugs in the infirmary now don't cover. Granted, the research capabilities here are about on par with those of a high school classroom, but... [ shrug ] It may still be worth a shot.
andneversaydie: everybody in this whole darn army is so weird. (heheh...heheh....)

[personal profile] andneversaydie 2017-09-06 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[it's not dank, she swears]

Yeah... I mean, it'd be nice to have stuff that feels a little more familiar, anyhow. The stuff in the infirmary is nice because it tells you on the labels, but I dunno.
pr159: (who live their lives)

[personal profile] pr159 2017-09-06 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
There is... certainly something to be said for labels.

[ ?? look he can only humor so much of this backwoodsy crap, what is he supposed to say about "stuff that feels familiar" ]

Well, I think I'll just leave this place in your expert hands for now, then. You know where to find me.
andneversaydie: (fondly regards agriculture)

Right, definitely. I'll make sure I do my best.
