week 4

[Four weeks in the Starfield Penitentiary and seven people have lost their lives to Blaze Dudely's cruel game. At some point the robots cleaned up the mess left behind and by Sunday the involved rooms (including the fridge) are all clean and free of blood. In fact there's no sign left of any of the deaths that have happened on the ship so far by at least the next day. The only physical signs that people are gone are the empty beds.

On Sunday morning, you may find that you're recovering a a few other things as well - both strange dreams and some new items.

In addition, there's a new set of doors at the end of the corridor, in the space between the infirmary and the exercise yard. Looks like you've got a new wing to explore.]

I didn't know you needed them in the first place. Is your vision that poor?

Of course you didn't; a good warrior hides their weaknesses. That aside, I only need them for reading these days. It gives me a headache otherwise.
pr159: (throw in a factory too)

Of course. [ He smiles; he knows plenty about that. His cellmate is the only one who knows how many times he's gotten sick here, after all. ] It's good that you don't usually need them, though; optometry isn't exactly my specialty.

[Even back on her own ship no one but the doll had seen her wear glasses. It was a point of pride.] I wouldn't have lasted as a warrior if I needed them all the time.

[Not that there aren't any fighters that need them but. Have you seen her helmet?]
pr159: (or let me put this another way)

[ If he has, he'd try to forget it tbh. ]

I don't suppose your world has contact lenses, then.

[Considering she usually wears her armor, the answer is he's probably trying to forget it. Especially since it's also on the table rn.]

No. [Whatever those are.]
pr159: (there are rumors going around)

[ Yeah, that helmet is doing nothing for him. ]

They're small lenses that you place directly on your eyes so you don't have to deal with the inconveniences of glasses.

Try selling that idea if you make it back, and I'm sure it will net you a small fortune.

[It's wonderful. Wow.]

I'm sure a certain merchant would be happy to hear that. However...lenses directly on the eyes? It sounds like an accident waiting to happen.
pr159: (but i'm not sorry)

I imagine the early prototypes had their flaws, but the design is constantly being improved upon. For what it's worth, I'd say about a quarter of my home's population wears them on a daily basis, and I haven't heard too many horror stories.

[ There are a few, definitely, but they're usually just from dumbasses who didn't clean their lenses right or something. ]

I would imagine there would be some, especially when they were first created. Regardless that would be up to those who would seek to invent them.
