[Four weeks in the Starfield Penitentiary and seven people have lost their lives to Blaze Dudely's cruel game. At some point the robots cleaned up the mess left behind and by Sunday the involved rooms (including the fridge) are all clean and free of blood. In fact there's no sign left of any of the deaths that have happened on the ship so far by at least the next day. The only physical signs that people are gone are the empty beds.

On Sunday morning, you may find that you're recovering a a few other things as well - both strange dreams and some new items.

In addition, there's a new set of doors at the end of the corridor, in the space between the infirmary and the exercise yard. Looks like you've got a new wing to explore.]

[Soma doesn't say anything for a little while, only chewing lightly on his lip. Finally, he nods once.]

It wasn't just the dream, though.

["I sense a power within you. Do tell me... what kind of power has awoken within you?"

".... the power to rule...."]

Alec said something to me before he... and I've never felt dread like that before. Combined with the dream, I... Akande, I think I'm possessed. Actually, I'm sure of it.

[Before these weeks, he would have snorted at such a theory. Possession? Nonsense.

Now, though, he gives Soma a long look. Studying him. Albeit with a...slightly different intent than before. There's no mocking in it.]

Do you think it will be a problem?

[But is that solemn manner any better?]

I don't know. I can absorb and use the souls of demons, use their powers. Other than gaining some crazy abilities, I've never felt the urge to kill or hurt anyone because of it. But Alec... he asked me if I'd fed. With what he could see, for him to ask me that?

[A shudder passes through him.]

Am I turning into a demon?

[Ah, yes. Alex and his Sight. He frowns down at Soma, considering his words carefully...then shrugs his shoulders, helplessly.]

I don't know. I did know another man who also...fed. But he was still a man, despite how much he insisted otherwise.

I know you're not afraid of me, I don't think you're afraid of anything.

[Soma's lips briefly twitch into a half-hearted, wry grin.]

But you don't think less of me, even if I'm not human?

[That? That actually gets him to quirk his lips.]

I think at least half of Talon could hardly be called 'human'. Myself included. [A MONSTER, A MONSTER, HE'S JUST A BADASS MONSTER] I would only think less of you if you let these matters hold you back from your potential.

... thank you, Akande. I promise I'll do everything I can not to hold myself back. I can't, not if I want to help the people here who need it.

I hope not. [And his maybe-smile vanishes as quickly as it came] Especially not with the understanding that we will have another death on our hands sooner than later.

[He knows an avalanche when he sees it. It Has Begun.]

Are you really sure? I think we're all tired of so much death. It's been draining on most of us.

Are you saying there is nothing you would kill for?

Because I would call you a liar.

I'd like to think not, but... I can't say for sure one way or the other. Everyone has a weakness, no matter how much we want to think we're better than that. I don't want to kill anybody, though.

[goldrighthand]

[To that, he'll grant a nod. Even Doomfist prefers to kill for a purpose, as opposed to wanton slaughter.]

You may need to grow comfortable with the thought, if you plan to survive. I am led to believe we will continue in this program until only one of us remains.

God, I hope not. I don't want to die, but I can't imagine killing any of the friends I've made here. Even unpleasant types like CT or Apollo deserve better.

Really. And you don't think they'd grant you the same courtesy, now, would you?

[Sarcasm. That's sarcasm.]

I can tell you this - as much as I respect a handful of people in this place, I have a plan to kill every single one of you. But I could not do so and 'prove' my innocence. [Which means it would be utterly pointless.]

[Soma sighs, shaking his head.]

I can't say I'm surprised, after what you said before at Diego's trial. I'll tell you, though: if you come after me or someone I consider a friend, don't doubt that I'll fight you to my last breath. I respect your strength and conviction, but I'm also not afraid of you.

[goldrighthand]

Good. [And he crosses his arms across his chest] I would despise an easy victory over one such as you. And I promise, if I do select you as my target?

[He tilts his head]

I will give you a fair chance. We owe ourselves a rematch, after all, at our best.

It might be kinda twisted, but... I appreciate that. And if I had no choice but to kill, and I came after you, I'd give you the same courtesy. Either way, if it comes down to it, it'll be a fight neither of us will ever forget.
