week 2

[With the sudden pirate takeover and the sudden, tragic deaths of the crew, the second week of the Starfield Penitentiary rehabilitation project is off to a rough start. After Price's call for parlay with the pirate captain, he was not seen for the remainder of Saturday but around 10 pm it is his calm but tense voice that makes the time announcement.

Buckle in, Champions, things are about to get bumpy.]

Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday

[ooc: Don't forget to to turn in your AC for week 1 and submit your threads for the Benefactors!]

[ It's a peaceful Wednesday night in Cell 11 until around 4 a.m., at which point Rideaux is hunched over the toilet, throwing up -- albeit pretty quietly, because hey, he's had a lot of practice being subtle with this kind of thing. His life sure is great!! Too bad you took that anti-emetic out of their cell to the storage room, isn't it, roommate?

BUT that's pretty par for the course, and later in the morning when the sun would hypothetically be up if they weren't in space, everything seems perfectly normal, and he's as perfectly put together as ever, regrettable wardrobe options aside.

For much of the day, you can find him in the library (because he's really not interested in watching you all beat each other up in the mess hall tbh), reading through whatever medical texts he can find in the nonfiction section, and possibly judging you for your own reading selections. ]

[Feel free to judge away, Rideaux. Cheryl's reading...a children's encyclopedia of animals.

Apparently, she also has the sequel to that awful pornography book, "50,000 Shades of Spaghettification", tucked in her stack of assorted other books as well.]
pr159: (sell us things which are already ours)

[personal profile] pr159 2017-08-24 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[ It looks ridiculous for a grown woman to be reading a children's book like that with no children to be seen, but... well, whatever world she came from -- assuming she wasn't making it all up to be cute and quirky or something -- did seem to have a completely different set of animals from anyone else's, didn't it? So, okay, maybe he'll cut her a break on this one. She's probably just trying to keep herself from looking clueless next time someone mentions a seagull or something, which is a lot more respectable than not studying up.

He's not really interested in striking up a conversation, but-- ]

Do those "chocobos" our royal friend seems to like so much make an appearance in that book?

[ Not yet looking over the rest of that stack... ]

Haven't seen 'em. I'm starting to think we're in the same boat.

[Yeah, she's kinda hoping no one pays too much attention...]
pr159: (i don't have time to regret)

[personal profile] pr159 2017-08-29 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
It would be helpful if they classified the nonfiction texts here by world of origin.

[ Some of these medical textbooks are a lot less useful than others. ]

They do if it's Earth history, apparently? Well, their Earth.

Which is...helpful, I guess. I've been trying to read up on the Boner Uprising all this time, [and yeah, she's gonna say that while trying to fight back giggles] but there's only so much I can take before it starts getting to me.

Cell 11

[personal profile] silverguitarhero 2017-08-24 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[John rolls over in his sleep, before becoming vaguely aware of some sound happening nearby. It's then that he notices Rideaux throwing up. Slowly, he gets out of bed himself.]

Are you badly ill? [His voice is concerned, although he doesn't know how his cellmate will react to said concern.]
pr159: (something in that office is killing you)

[personal profile] pr159 2017-08-24 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Ugh, god damn it. This is exactly why he hates shared bathrooms. Or... well, it's probably number 3 or 4 on his list of reasons why. There are a lot of things to hate.

He's pretty much done by this point, anyway, and quickly flushes when he hears his cellmate's voice, taking advantage of that moment of noise to wipe his mouth on a paper towel and clear his throat before answering. ]

Your concern is appreciated, but I'm fine.

[ He stands up and brushes himself off, moving to splash some cold water from the sink on his face. So, that settles that, right? ]
silverguitarhero: ([Concern])

[personal profile] silverguitarhero 2017-08-25 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Merely some disagreement with your food, then? [Although he isn't sure what here could and couldn't cause food poisoning.]
pr159: (where i'm living at the top)

[personal profile] pr159 2017-08-25 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
[ SIGH... he's tempted to just say yes and end it there, but this is probably going to happen once or twice a week, honestly; and depending on how long he's stuck here, he may end up inviting some kind of misguided intervention once it's obvious that he doesn't just have ridiculously bad luck with food poisoning.

Once he's patted his face dry with a clean towel and smoothed his hair back down, he goes to stand in the bathroom doorway to make himself visible and make it clear just how Fine he is. ]

Medicinal side effect. I don't believe there's anything wrong with the food, besides the obvious, and you don't need to worry about me giving you some kind of... contagious space virus, either.
silverguitarhero: ([Concern])

[personal profile] silverguitarhero 2017-08-25 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, that comment about "medicine" does get him a little concerned.] You've enough of this medicine? [He knows they've been getting items randomly, but it doesn't seem to always give what's most useful or needed.]
pr159: (i don't have time to regret)

[personal profile] pr159 2017-08-25 11:17 am (UTC)(link)
I'm managing.

[ The prison overlords were thoughtful enough to provide that, at least, and he's been hording everyone else's painkiller regains for backup. Benefit of being the resident doctor -- everyone trusts you with their drugs. ]

Anyway, speaking as a doctor, I can assure you that I know how to take care of myself.
silverguitarhero: ([Bowed head])

[personal profile] silverguitarhero 2017-08-25 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[John nods. He supposes that if the man probably does have some medical expertise.] I received previously a bottle of medicine that claims to be effective for such sickness. Though I left it in the storage for airyone to take, if you have the most need of it...
pr159: (don't let your standards fall)

[personal profile] pr159 2017-08-25 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly, did everyone receive something except for me?

[ Said mostly under his breath. Which tastes pretty gross right now.

God he needs some mouthwash. ]

That... would have been a useful thing to keep in here, yes. I'll have to look for it in the morning.

[ Well... later morning. ]
silverguitarhero: ([Concern])

[personal profile] silverguitarhero 2017-08-26 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
It's an unnatural pink in color, and I placed it prominently, so it shouldn't be hard to find.
pr159: (there's much i don't want to remember)

[personal profile] pr159 2017-08-26 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Pink?

[ And that is spoken with the appropriate level of disdain, because why would you put unnecessary artificial colorings into nausea medicine? ]
silverguitarhero: ([Tired])

[personal profile] silverguitarhero 2017-08-26 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
[He leans back against the bed.] Indeed, though I see no reason for the color.
pr159: (let mine not be counted among them)

[personal profile] pr159 2017-08-26 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Likewise. Though yes, that should make it an easy find.

[ Just... sighs and rubs his right temple. ]

In any event, if you happen to come into possession of any other medical supplies in the future, let's just keep them here, shall we?
silverguitarhero: ([Thinking])

[personal profile] silverguitarhero 2017-08-26 09:31 am (UTC)(link)
[He ponders for a while as he lies there.] I suppose that's sensible. You're a doctor, so you might better know how to use them.
pr159: (there really is no truth to this)

[personal profile] pr159 2017-08-26 11:07 am (UTC)(link)
Precisely. It will be better for all of us if someone with actual medical expertise is monitoring everything to prevent misuse.

[ A vague gesture in the general direction of Rick's cell..... not that there aren't four other cells in between, but honestly, who else would he be referring to ]
silverguitarhero: ([Groan])

[personal profile] silverguitarhero 2017-08-26 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[A pause, as John considers what he's seen of Rick from afar. Then a single nod as he quietly groans about the old man.] I see your meaning. Though if you're feeling more well, you should rest now.
pr159: (you can feel history coming about)

[personal profile] pr159 2017-08-26 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Don't tell him what he should do. ]

I intend to.

[ Right after he brushes his teeth, so. Just going to duck back into the bathroom here and do that, thanks. ]
silverguitarhero: ([Rest])

[personal profile] silverguitarhero 2017-08-26 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[He yawns a bit, closing his own eyes.] May the rest of your sleep be peaceful.

[ Oh hey, it's the doctor guy. Doing... an incredibly doctorly thing, huh? ]

Are they super different from the ones you're used to?
pr159: (some other side to some other story)

[personal profile] pr159 2017-08-24 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Oh, the one with the whole "multiple timelines" thing... This could be interesting. ]

A lot of these aren't even referencing human biology. [ Flips back a few pages and turns the book around to show her a (safe for work!!) diagram of some decidedly alien shape's circulatory system. ] So yes, you could say that.
