Week 1

[After being introduced to their Counselor, the inmates are left to their own devices to explore the open areas of the ship as they please. The counselor's office hours are available if any of the inmates wish to speak to him privately and, throughout the week, the cook and the janitor can be found here and there.

Each morning the inmates are awakened by Dr. Price's voice over the intercoms located in each cell announcing the time as 7 am. Breakfast is served each morning in the mess hall from 7 am to 8 am, lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and dinner from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m..

Enjoy your week, inmates.]

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday

[ooc: welcome to week 1, everyone! This first week is a peace week which means there will be no murder this weekend! Feel free to start submitting threads for the benefactors]

You're human, but someone - [He just sort of gestures at all of Erika.] . . . There's magic all over you.

[Does she not know???? That seems like something that's blatantly against the Accords. You're not supposed to do magic shit to Mundanes.]

[ He just keeps going. God, she'd be more upset that she's already turned waspish, but at least this one deserves it. ]

Are you going to read my fortune next? No, no, wait, don't tell me- [ She closes her eyes, puts a hand to her forehead theatrically. ] I shall discover a deep truth about myself that I never knew, and forge bonds of friendship with those around me in the coming days~

[ And then something snaps, and the sneer returns in full force. ]

I told you, you have nothing to prove this "magic" on me exists! Or can you somehow materialize it and show me~?

[The longer he's looking at her, the worse his confusion gets. She's not a Shadowhunter, but there's the touch of the Angel. She's not a Downworlder, but what he's seeing feels like Downworlders.]

That's not my specialty. I deal in runes and tracking magic. [aka: stuff that just looks like bullshit.] I can't even tell what you are.

That's because I'm not an~y~thing~! If I keep saying it, will it eventually pierce your thick skull? Gosh, it's like you're not even listening to me.

[ Erika crosses her arms, the fingers on one hand drumming erratically on her forearm. ]

So far I'm still not heeeeearing any evidence to prove your claims about magiiiic...? [ wow, nobody should be allowed to mangle any sort of language like that. ] It's convenient that you just specialize in lines- oh, sorry. "Runes".

Nephilim deal in practical magic, enhancements to what's already present. [Somewhere, Jonathan Shadowhunter is screaming.] If you want a showy display of magic, you'd have to talk to a Warlock. Like whoever cast your . . . glamour.

[He's just gonna call it that. That's what he's going with here.]

[Oh god. That whining noise.]

[It's making Leon's ears bleed, please make it stop.]

[Someone is watching and, well, she can't exactly stay quiet--]

For a pipsqueak you sure have a mouth on you.

Oh, so him saying I have some sort of invisible fake crap on me is alright to you, but responding in kind is awful...?

[ n-nevermind that she lashed out first. ]

Until you started acting like a backwater rube, he was being quite civil.

[She even stands up to her full height to emphasize her point.]

That aside, I already have to deal with the vampire and mercenary all the time. I'd rather things stay quiet elsewhere. It's giving me a headache.

[ Erika is entirely unphased by Apollo's height. If anything, it just makes her crankier. ]

And I am so sor~ry about this terrible situation that you're stuck in. [ Shrugs!! ] It's almost as if we're all stuck here together! But please, do pardon me for taking offense at being accused of something that doesn't exist in my original world.

I'll try to bother you less in future, okaaaaay...?
ebonyknight: (5. HEY)

[personal profile] ebonyknight 2017-08-17 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
You just contradicted yourself.

[They were all stuck here together for some unfathomable reason and some pipsqueak wasn't going to boss her around.]

If you can't keep your story straight now, I doubt you'll be of any use when push comes to shove.
withoutred: (✿ rule 11.)

[personal profile] withoutred 2017-08-17 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
I don't see any contradictions. Magic is fake in my world. It doesn't exist.

[ She props her chin in her hand, staring at Apollo. ]

I'm not sure what's so hard to understand about that. Honestly, it's like you're not even trying. [ She sighs. ] I know what I'm capable of. Just because someone like you thinks otherwise doesn't diminish what I am.
ebonyknight: (5. HEY)

[personal profile] ebonyknight 2017-08-17 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
You started the argument that witches don't exist. The line of logic you started off was that magic doesn't exist anywhere. Then you just stated that your argument was that it simply didn't exist in your world.

[She waves a hand.]

The two arguments are entirely different.
withoutred: (✿ rule 14.)

wow i am so sorry for this

[personal profile] withoutred 2017-08-17 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
Wait, wait, wait. You want to argue semaaaaaan~tics with me?

[ wow okay this is suddenly the best thing to happen to her all day. ]

Let's go in order, then. [ She snaps her fingers. ] The statement "magic doesn't exist anywhere" uses a similar principle to any non-targeted "you". That is, without prior evidence of other worlds existing, using the term "anywhere" implies "anywhere in the world", where "the world" is only the world I would know.

[ As she speaks, an odd thing happens - for a moment, there's a glimmer of blue light in her hand, and an audible tone that coincides with her words. But it's faint, and winks out within seconds. Erika, for her part, doesn't seem to notice. ]

Secondly, you're putting words in my mouth, aren't you...? I never said the words "magic doesn't exist anywhere" until just now, did I? If you can't even be bothered to separate the truth from your own assumptions, I don't know why you're expecting anyone to waste their time answering you.

But for the sake of being thorough - this is still intended to be about "whether or not witches exist". Witches, as the name would imply, would theoretically require magic to exist. If magic doesn't exist, surely the next logical thought would be that this means witches can't either? And if something is calling itself a Witch, under the conditions where magic doesn't exist, then wouldn't it follow that this creature would be lying?

[When did this become Umineko? Well. Alright then, Miss Erika.]

No, you didn't say those words but by your sheer insistence you damn well implied that. However, with how you're using your words to cut away to the argument I doubt you'll even admit to it. One could argue about the definition of a witch: about herbalists and those that practice medicine who are accused of being witches but I doubt these definitions even matter to you.

[She did notice the blue glow. Ah. That definitely cinches what she was thinking--]

In fact, the way you acted after the mere suggestion of there being witches seems to throw doubt on your argument.
