Week 1

[After the initial introduction of the Overseers on Sunday, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the part of the ship they have access to to their hearts' content. However, the doors that Jamie and Bolton came through are locked tight and cannot be unlocked via PIP.

On Monday morning, the same voice that awakened them the previous morning chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot. There's also a pop-up message waiting for them: a notice announcing "office hours" for Bolton in the library and Jamie in the art room every day from here on out.

Enjoy your week, Champions.]

Even if there is a connection, I doubt the information would be helpful to us now. You should focus your energy on other subjects.

[At least she's...encouraging her? Kind of??]
cyan_maid: (Just about fed up)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-02-14 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes...you're absolutely right.

[Let's just turn to a blank page and start a new chart, though somewhat idly.]

...My name is Jane, by the way. What's yours?

Angelica.

[...

...

Listen, she isn't very good at casual conversation, okay.]
cyan_maid: (Oooh lookie here)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-02-14 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[That's not anything Jane hasn't worked with before.]

It's nice to meet you - considering the circumstances, of course. So, what brings you to the art room?

I thought it would be wise to familiarize myself with my surroundings, so I was trying to memorize the layout of this place.
cyan_maid: (Oooh lookie here)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-02-15 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! That's a good idea. I should probably do that later, myself. [She looks down at the sketchbook.] I think I just wanted to collect all my thoughts first.

That's reasonable. It's wise to write things down before you have the chance to forget.
cyan_maid: (Oooh lookie here)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-02-15 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm. That and I don't completely trust these...PIP things to be reliable. There's a sort of note taking application, but it's much more refreshing to see everything out on paper.

[That and her PIP has private reflections on the other people here because *no one will be able to see it but her*. Hopefully.]

...Is there? I didn't realize.

[Magi aren't really the most up on technology... She figured it out enough to browse the profiles, but not anything more advanced than that.]
cyan_maid: (Just doing some reading)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-02-15 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! Ah, let's see...

[She'll bring her PIP up to show Angelica how to use it - but only to bring up a new document, so her personal notes don't turn up.]

It just takes the pressing of a button or two, not much at all.

[Angelica watches, closely and silently. The technology is unfamiliar to her, but now that she's seen it, it seems simple enough...]

Thank you. I'm not accustomed to technology like this.
cyan_maid: (Mm...I dunno.)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-02-16 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
That's alright. It's a bit advanced for me, too, but it's similar enough to cell phones and small computer devices for me to pick up pretty easily. There's a lot of talk of stuff like that being a trait of the "millennial" generation.

[personal profile] decarded 2017-02-16 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
I come from after the turn of the millennium as well, but my family has never used much modern technology. Still, the interface is fairly intuitive.
cyan_maid: (Goodness gracious me!)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-02-16 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course - it's something designed to be user-friendly without the user having to worry about the more technical bits. All that is done in a sort of behind-the-scenes way - it's got to do with math and computing that I really don't know much about, but again, you don't need to know it.

[personal profile] decarded 2017-02-16 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. That's quite intelligent of the designers.

[just kind of... pokes at the PIP thoughtfully]
cyan_maid: (Chef in the making)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-02-16 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
It's also good business for people who understand how the computers work behind the scenes. The rest of us who can't go to them when they break down. So, all in all, it's beneficial, but also a clever opportunity for the people who can take it.

[Look if you're going to take over a corporate giant someday you've got to know basic economics]

[personal profile] decarded 2017-02-17 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
It sounds like the sort of forethought more people could learn from.

[Magi technology replacements aren't nearly so user-friendly.]
cyan_maid: (Mm...I dunno.)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-02-17 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[A shrug.] It's just how things end up. Technology advances, there's a supply of new items, demand increases for people with specialized knowledge to maintain them.
