Week 1

[After the initial introduction of the Overseers on Sunday, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the part of the ship they have access to to their hearts' content. However, the doors that Jamie and Bolton came through are locked tight and cannot be unlocked via PIP.

On Monday morning, the same voice that awakened them the previous morning chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot. There's also a pop-up message waiting for them: a notice announcing "office hours" for Bolton in the library and Jamie in the art room every day from here on out.

Enjoy your week, Champions.]

Certainly. Though I still need to test the limits here. In my world there's little I cannot reduce to cinders.

Really? Even metals, or flesh? [He does sound a little disapproving-burning metal and flesh to cinders is obviously counterproductive.]

It's possible, but little point to doing that typically. I prefer that the people I fight last more than a minute.

So, you are capable of fighting without using fire?

[personal profile] almightyconflagration 2017-02-19 09:44 am (UTC)(link)
I am, but there are also differences in how hot a fire can get. A fire to cook food doesn't need to be as hot as the fires used to forge a metal blade. I can choose how much or how little I'll turn the heat up.

I'm imagining them having this conversation while the fire alarm blares in the background

[personal profile] humanitarianherbalist 2017-02-19 10:25 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. But I suspect that it has been limited to the level required to cook food only?

It's a rather difficult thing to test with that rule that says we can't destroy anything.

I suppose it would be. [Another pause] Are such abilities common where you come from?
almightyconflagration: (005)

[personal profile] almightyconflagration 2017-02-19 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
They aren't. If there is anyone else with a similar level of ability, I sure haven't met them. Not even with a different element.

Elements-you speak of the four classical ones? Water, earth, fire, and air?
almightyconflagration: (012)

[personal profile] almightyconflagration 2017-02-20 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Those plus the higher elements: space, time and mirage. When those become active, you see some freaky shit. Same for your world then?

[Okay, he can do this. Just mentally redefine "element" for his world.]

There are hardly any capable of wielding such abilities in my world, but they do have the concept of the four classical elements, as the indivisible substances that form all of creation. [A scoff] Of course, this is merely the belief of humans, and a poor one at that. Simple observation will note that the earth is composed of many other things, of rock and sand and even the remains of dead animals.
