Week 1

[After the initial introduction of the Overseers on Sunday, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the part of the ship they have access to to their hearts' content. However, the doors that Jamie and Bolton came through are locked tight and cannot be unlocked via PIP.

On Monday morning, the same voice that awakened them the previous morning chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot. There's also a pop-up message waiting for them: a notice announcing "office hours" for Bolton in the library and Jamie in the art room every day from here on out.

Enjoy your week, Champions.]

[She shrugs.]

I find all of it disingenuous. If you expect us to kill, give us an armory instead of playing this ridiculous game.

[A huff.]

That would probably be too easy. They most likely expect a lot of us - calling us "Champions" and whatnot.

Perhaps, but would it really make things that much easier? If we were all armed equally, it would only be more honest.

But then you'd expect people to reach for, say, the swords or axes. You don't expect people to automatically reach for a saucepan.

[WELL, MAYBE YOU DON'T

But that is a fair point, hm.]

I suppose it is harder to defend yourself, if you don't know what sort of weapon to expect.

I mean, I suppose...I have more experience with a world full of unexpected weapons. I do use a spoonkind specibus, and no one is ready to duel with a spoon.

[...]

A spoon..."specibus"?
cyan_maid: (Goodness gracious me!)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-02-20 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[A nod.] A specification, to be a bit clearer. I'm registered and able to fight with spoons, and I can normally gain access to one without any trouble. [A sigh.] But my sylladex isn't working at all...and even if it was, I doubt any of my belongings would be in it.

So you...equip spoons through this sylladex, and are then able to fight with them?

[She's trying to put this into terms that make sense to her, bear with her.]
cyan_maid: (Would you like to lick the whisk?)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-02-20 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
That's it exactly! The system makes it possible to equip all sorts of unusual items.

I see.

...It sounds a bit like the system my family uses, with something called "class cards." By equipping one, you can access the weapons and abilities written into that card.
cyan_maid: Jane is pleased to help bake in all red (Happy to help!)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-02-21 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my, it uses cards? That's sort of how we store things in our sylladex - and by extension, that's how our weapons are stored so we have easy access to them.

[How interesting.]

Then you're able to write new information onto these cards, after they've been made?
cyan_maid: (Just doing some reading)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2017-02-21 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[Jane shakes her head.] No, I've never heard of anyone writing on one of the cards. I can see what components make up the contents of a card, though - that's the kind of sylladex I have! It's called a Recipe Modus.
