week 1
[After the initial introduction of the Overseers on Sunday, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the part of the ship they have access to to their hearts' content. However, the doors that Jamie and Bolton came through are locked tight and cannot be unlocked via PIP.
On Monday morning, the same voice that awakened them the previous morning chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot. There's also a pop-up message waiting for them: a notice announcing "office hours" for Bolton in the library and Jamie in the art room every day from here on out.
Enjoy your week, Champions.]

Jane pauses, suppressing the urge to roll her eyes and sigh, and lets her hands drop to her sides.]
I've been doing other things, Mister Togami. My initial instincts are not, in fact, to get into the kitchen of every place I find myself in.
[But the urge to bake a cake, even for strangers, has kind of been mounting.]
Makes you feel like they're missing an opportunity for murder with that - and isn't that their hope? That we'll wake up to a dead body one of these days? Surely they didn't build a kitchen just to show off their knives.
[Not that they have access to poison other than, you know. Paints, probably. Hell, someone could get creative if they felt the urge.]

[Well she has a point there, and one Togami was still thinking about. What's the point of the Kitchen?]
This place must have some sort of reason to exist and to be locked during the nights. Either the Overseers have plans for this kitchen beyond what we see right now or... [Togami scowls, browsing the packages the MRE had] ...or it's not for us, but for them.
But yes, it can't be that such a large place was made just to store these dreadful imitations of food.
[Even though Jane isn't worthy of Togami giving her any sizable amount of time, Togami does admit to himself that she's not a moron. That's...good enough, in terms of someone he has to be in the vicinity of]

[It seems silly, to her, for someone to hide actual food in one place and then lug it to another just to cook it. And as much as she's snarking...she finds herself not too disappointed with the banter. You're fairly sharp yourself, buster - but you're still a jerk.]
As for investigation, I'm taking my time. There's twenty sets of eyes in a finite space - we're all bound to notice something different.
no subject
[Togami seems a bit exasperated about the lack of access to the kitchen during the nights]
If anyone had seen them someone would have heard about it already. They won't keep information hidden from the rest, that little powwow on Monday demonstrated it well enough.
no subject
[Hmmmm why you exasperated Togami hm hm - also that's an interesting choice for a description of that meeting. Jane decides to start sifting quietly through the freeze dried foods to play at being casual.]
We can only hope that sort of thing will be a trend for however long we're stuck here. It's better to have more information than less.
no subject
It'd be excellent if sharing information didn't involve doing it in a way the Overseers can listen to so easily. Anything that's found from now on could be what's needed to get out of here, but since no one considered that discussing it in the open can work against you all I'm sure it didn't even cross any of your minds.
[Which is one of the reasons why he doesn't intend to share information unless it's absolutely vital, you lot of loose-lipped fools.
Togami opens one of the packets, pouring the dust on a plate. Yuck. He can't even tell what it's supposed to be. 'Disgusting', he mutters to himself]
no subject
Then where would you suggest we talk? We only have a limited amount of options available to us - and we don't know what will happen if we try to obscure the cameras. Unless the shower rooms are free of cameras and we can manage to pull everyone into one of those, our hands are tied when it comes to sharing information with as many people at once as we can.
[Yeah that doesn't look too fun to eat. Jane raises an eyebrow.] Why not wait for lunch? Unless you're wary of the cafeteria food...

...on the other hand, if the group has the upper hand against the Overseers then it'd be easier to triumph over them. It'd be a matter of pushing the rest in a direction and then swooping in to claim the success by delivering the final blows to the Overseers. That'll work]
Talk as little as possible. Limit yourselves to written material and destroy it after the meeting is over. The shower rooms are certainly the best option, but with the right tweaking one of those soundprood conference rooms can be good enough -- barely.
[He looks what he's talking about, at least. It's one of the consequences of having to be alert and on the run during the actual state of his world.
Togami tilts his head towards Jane, giving her a look of 'don't you dare to ask questions']
I won't take a bite of anything the Overseers make, safe or not.
no subject
Though unfortunately he has good ideas. Fuck.]
I'll see if I can pass that suggestion along to the others. Covertly, of course.
[She'll look him in the eyes again at that last bit, raising her eyebrow, very unimpressed.]
Out of concern, or our of protest? They want us to kill each other, not to dirty their own hands.
no subject
[Damn it, she asked questions!]
That food does not meet the standards of the Togami family.
[While his bedsheet toga and the MREs are up to the standards of his family, apparently. He sounds like he's not going to change his mind no matter what]
no subject
We're not exactly being put up in the goshdarned Ritz-Carlton, you know.
no subject
Save your breath. It's one thing for the commoners to be satisfied with it, it's a different one to expect me to accept it.
[As if to make sure how serious he was about rejecting that food, he takes the spoon, sticks it into the paste he just poured, and takes a bite. Augh, hell...how he hates this 'spaceship']
no subject
I'd offer you some advice on that attitude, but I get the feeling it would fall on deaf ears. [Let's go back to rummaging through these cabinets for something she could bake.] I can, however, say that maybe, since we have access to running water, you could try experimenting with the contents to see if heating them a certain way or reintroducing some moisture might help?
[Look if he's going to be miserable he should at least attempt to resolve his misery even if he fails]
no subject
Had you ever seen MREs before?
[But yeah, it...may be worth a try]

[Togami takes the smallest pot he could find and pours the ancient dust in it, before opening another one that had what seems to be pieces of bread and adding it in and adding a little bit of water, enough to make the mixture wet. He moves in a controlled and stilted way, making it obvious he doesn't have the slightest idea of what he's doing]
no subject
[Geez boy it would be invaluable if you learned some domestic shit to take care of yourself]
no subject
You should be the one to take the first bite of the end result.
[He'd pay you if you do that, actually. Togami puts the pot on the stove and turns it on on low, as instructed]
no subject
Alright - but if I think of ways you can improve it, then you have to try them out and then try the results of that.
[Raise the stakes raise the stakes]
no subject
I'm not going to yield to your demands.
no subject
[Well if you're going to be difficult]
no subject
[He says that with a straight face because he has no self-awareness about how much of a jackass he is, apparently. He even pushes the mixture -- mixture that looks worse than it did before -- away from the fire. He's not going to eat it at all]
no subject
no subject
[He had enough. Togami takes his plate of disgusting mush, leave the pot there on the counter for someone else to deal with, and leaves without even saying goodbye. Have fun with the kitchen, Jane, he won't]
no subject
[She nearly admonishes Togami, but he's out of the room before she can think of a reply, and Jane's left alone in the kitchen, frowning sourly. After a moment, she looks at the pot like it's offended her.
...
Just going to rinse it out begrudgingly, we're not having terrible food sit and create its own culture in an unusable kitchen on her watch.]
